It does seem Japanese culture of this time was fairly authoritarian & childrearing fairly brutal
I‘ve never been comfortable with the destruction of Hiroshima & Nagasaki. It should never have happened & the second bomb X 🔟

So I finally went to the Alameda library today and got myself a library card. It‘s been a really long time. Not that I don‘t love libraries but I‘m a bit obsessed with owning books. Giving them back just seems so wrong! But I was. Turned onto these graphic novels and there are at least 10 and at $15 a piece the library seemed a good choice.
pickA very interesting graphic novel recounting the life before the bombing of Hiroshima, as well as during the attack. I'll definitely read the rest of the series!
Just finished the amazing graphic novel Barefoot Gen. An autobiographical tale about Hiroshima in the run up to the atomic bomb drop- devastating and honest a must read for everyone!!
