It was published as a series of penny dreadfuls in 1846-7.Only 4 characters are the same-Mr. Todd, Mrs. Lovett, Tobias, & Johanna.Johanna is not Todds daughter, hes not seeking revenge.Even though it is so different from what we know (the play & film) i really enjoyed it. It felt like an entirely different story and I had no idea how it was going to unfold. film/play stray so much from the OG.

I love this story! I never knew there was so much history in it. This copy actually has the story of how it was narrative under the original title of The String of Pearls that appeared in The People's Periodical and Family Library in 1846 and became a phenomenon in Britain. This copy is also written in the original text of the narrative. So much history in books ❤️

So I was about to start The Hatching by Ezekiel Boone when I noticed that I had Sweeney Todd in my stack for October.
