This book can teach character education and I could use the stories to discuss the impact of gossip, rumors, and the importance of integrity. After reading this book, I could also lead a discussion and talk about the scenarios where students practice honesty and and respect.
This book is a picture book and was published in 2003. It tells the story of a beloved teacher and a baseball coach, Mr.Peabody, who becomes the subject of a harmful rumor in his small town. Throughout the book the children learn about the consequences of gossip and the importance of honesty and integrity.
Positively one of my favorite children's books for multiple reasons. First, the illustrations are breathtaking. Next, I love the build-up of the story. Mr. Peabody is a good guy (he coaches a kids' baseball team!)... Did he really just steal an apple?? Which bring me to finally, the moral of the story. Things are not always as they seem, and it is best not to start any rumors.
Fabulous children's book, and I would highly recommend!!
Been years since I‘ve read this. Nice story and really pretty illustrations. (Yup, Madonna wrote it)
I picked this book up in a thrift shop because it's by Madonna!!! It's really good, too, if you're into children's books.

I had no idea Madonna had written any books! I loved this story about the power of rumors. The illustrations by Loren Long are gorgeous! I'm glad I found this, and I'd be happy to come across any of her other books!
