It's been a long, busy week without much reading! So tonight, it's this gentle middle grade novel and the GBBO. And an early bedtime! 😪
#7days7covers #covercrush day 3. Feel free to play along. 1 cover a day for 7 days. No explanation needed
Beautifully written story of mourning, of brokeness, of family, of courage and love.
Just delivered... This is the next book for my (8 year old) daughter's Book Club. I think the cover is beautiful! Looking forward to reading this after she's finished.
Has anyone read this one yet?
Look at this cover art! 💜 I enjoyed the story, but didn‘t love it. A young girl is empowered to act when her family nearly falls apart after her mother suffers severe depression and her father leaves the country for work. All but one of the adult characters are underdeveloped and left me with a lot of unanswered questions. I enjoyed the historical backdrop and spotlight on early experimental (frightening) mental health treatment.
I haven‘t been emotionally wrenched by a book in a very long time. It tells the story of a girl who has to learn to trust in her own heart and mind, and find the courage to stand up for what she knows is right.
