The Mother: A Novel | 
pick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I went into this novel thinking it was a thriller but quickly realized it was a courtroom drama. I was disappointed but was quickly surprised at how well written and paced this book was. The story is heartbreaking but also hopeful. There were important topics included like race and social gaps. Told from the perspective of “the mother” observing the trial, I found this book really moving.
so-soA parent‘s nightmare: their 16 years old kid was murdered. After seven months of grief and estrangement the trial against the boy who is accused of the murder starts.
A sad read but it didn‘t touch me as much as A Cupboard Full of Coats did.

so-soReally easy to read with quite a gripping story line but I was left disappointed with the ending.
pickSuch a brilliantly written story, not easy content, but such wonderful prose. Loved this author's first book so much and was so excited to see this on here last week. Highly recommended and an author I shall be watching out for.
So excited when this was reviewed on here recently, loved her first book and have been waiting for another one! A heart breaking subject though!
