Aimeesue Did we read Dracula at AA? I have a vague recollection of someone being really creeped out by Dracula walking headfirst down the wall like a fly… 6y
jillrhudy @Aimeesue that was me!!! I am terrified by that every time I read the book! 6y
Aimeesue Oops! Sorry! See, I thought so! 6y

A must read!! I originally read this when I was a lot younger but over the years I have read this again and again.
It just never stops being funny and is a good book if you want to sit back and relax 😄

Can't tell if I didn't like the book or just the family. Larry is a dick who treats his mother (and everyone around him) with utter disdain. Gerry is a completely undisciplined little twat who - with total disregard for his family's comfort or safety - treats his home like a zoo (yes, I know he later opens one). Didn't find this story hilarious/heartwarming like other reviewers, just noticed that the mother let her kids run roughshod all over her.

It‘s my Dad‘s 60th birthday so I bought him his favourite book in hardback, and it happens to be the 60th anniversary of the book too!

LoveToReadLiveToRead What a lovely cover! 7y

So, so funny! This is one of the most memorable books I've read in a long time! So many ridiculous and funny little stories about animals and especially Durrell's family. Purely enjoyable reading!

catebutler I'm so glad you enjoyed this one! I felt the same way after reading it. 7y
HotCocoaReads @catebutler I really ended up loving it! 7y

Gerald Durrell knows all about #animallove. I used to try sneaking animals home too but with less positive results. #17booklove

RadicalReader @Jas16 the title of this book definitely made me smile and chuckle 8y
