Finished one of my favorite series on Christmas this year!

To be honest, I wasn‘t a fan of how the story wrapped up. I thought the ending was just too rushed, but hey, it‘s been quite the adventure that I definitely recommend going on.

Lots of love to ya Mr. Clarke ◾️🖤

I love the mystical universe Herbert imagined and the story he tells within it. Kinda wish it had a glossary too 😅 but it sure leaves you with a lot to think about...

Really good book to binge read.

I saw the movie first and I‘m still shocked how different the book is. Not too mad though, because it‘s like a new (and better) adventure!

I‘m such a big fan of 70s and 80 sci-fi/fantasy/video game artwork like this...and y‘all know I geeked out at all the sci-fi references in this book.

This book was the first step I took in my sci-fi journey 2 years ago, so it holds a special spot in my heart!

I thought this was an epic journey which questions everything about our current social structure from the perspective of a true outsider. I loved following Michael through his earthly adventures and the implications it made of life thereafter.

P.S. I finally found the edition i wanted in a used bookstore after 2 years of searching!!

Lots of love for this series. It‘s everything I want out of a science fiction novel. Clarke is a creative genius who has taken me beyond my wildest dreams with his imagination. He seamlessly ties the past into the future making his universe feel all the more real. I can‘t wait to finish the series with 3001. 🖤◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️

You can truly feel the immense time, effort, love and crafting that Herbert put into creating this expansive universe and all its rich cultures. It‘s no wonder this book stands the test of time.

I also found the 1984 movie really charming and that it actually compliments the book unlike most movie adaptations.

Yes, yes, yes. If it wasn‘t obvious already, I absolutely adore this series. I love everything about it, the writing, the plot, the theories, the aliennnnnnnsssss...okay I admit, I‘m a little blind to anything wrong with this book because aliens.

Overall, I found this sequel just as enjoyable as the first!!

Happy calendar page flip day!

What a funny coincidence it is that this month is ”Extraterrestrial Eruptions” with a large blurb on Io, because it‘s one of the major settings in 2010 which I‘m reading right now! 😁

I just love Clarke‘s descriptions of Io‘s nightmarish volcanic landscape in the book. Just imagining it gave me chills!

10 chapters in and unsurprisingly loving the adventure. Still not sure if I agree with changing the setting to Jupiter but I understand why. However, I‘m still a big fan of the overwhelming presence of the Great Eye of Iapetus and the Saturn imagery in the first book 💔

Only a few more things left to unpack after my big move. With this new place, I‘m expecting a lot more free time to be able to read! Soon!

Also, very curious about this...movie??

I. ADORE. THIS. BOOK.

I didn‘t expect to like it as much as I did. Came in with low expectations since I had already seen the movie and enjoyed it...fell asleep to it...thought it was weird...as ya do.

However, I literally just finished it and I already want to read it again. I may have a new favorite book.

Personally? Not a fan of this book, although I can see why people may like it. It‘s a really easy sci-fiy read

Pros: really loved the universe she built and all the unique aliens and like the two pages she had of extraterrestrial biological theory.

Cons: none of the characters developed & have annoying personalities & predictable plot

Ultimately, this story would have translated better as a tv show in my opinion. It Reminded me a lot of firefly

So much to say! So little space here!
LONG story short, I wish I read this before Fire. I think I would have liked this more without constantly comparing the two. For me, it felt like this story just had (ironically)”the deepness” missing that Fire had with its characters and how they grew on you.

Found this in the attic, July 1990! Such a fun read comparing the articles to what we know now. It‘s amazing how far we‘ve come.
✨Personally? I don‘t think I believe in parallel universes. There‘s just too much we don‘t know about our current one to even comprehend thousands of others! It‘s also why I tend to shy away from stories (comics)in multiverses, too confusing!! (Says the girl who reads 800pg hard sci-fi most would say are quite confusing)

This is the first sci-fi book I ever read! It‘s such a fun adventure on a unique planet! The series addresses societal structures, authority and the value of another sentient species. It has so many characters you‘ll watch grow and villains you‘ll love to hate. It definitely shaped my view for future sci-fi novels I picked to read. The story and characters have stuck with me all this time ❤️

This book is a light hearted easy read. I really enjoyed it, even though it was a bit jumpy at times. I recommend this book for younger people or those who want to try a little bit of sci-fi without getting too in over their heads.

It was very frustrating to get through overall. I just about bailed a dozen times because of the strange writing style (& audiobook readers). There was so much build up, so much confusion and I couldn‘t tell if it was intentional. Read it if you want to know what happens to Ender. That‘s all
