A specialized tactical group crashes on planet who's tribal society while aware of more advanced people in the universe are very suspicious of foreigners.

When two of the group rescue a local child from a rival clan, they find friendship but when the male doctor falls for one of the clans sons, things get very complicated.

The author creates a wonderful world and tells a great story but honestly the dialog is too flowery.

Jane is a young lady being trained as an Attendant, a protector of well to do white women. Even though slavery is over, the law says that black children of age must serve. Jane just wants to get back to her mother but it's not that easy.

This was a surprising tapestry of history, culture and horror of more than one kind.

It's wonderful when a friend recommends a book to you; even more so when the book turns out to be riveting.

I was completely enraptured with this tale. I've always loved fantasy but the characters in those tales looked nothing like me. Here we have a story full of magic based on African mythology that is rich and vibrant. The characters so relatable that they remind you people in your own circle of family and friends.
