I wasn‘t liking the book that much and then the big twist at the end just made it worse. I didn‘t want to spend time with any of the characters.

I read this in two sittings, staying up long past my bedtime to finish. Good storytelling. Lots to think about. I don't want to give too much away - I went in knowing very little and it's best for letting the author tell the story. I'll just say it's horror + Andromeda Strain + total societal breakdown. (Reading this right after Parable of the Sower makes me feel like I should be prepping a doomsday shelter.)
Reminded me of The Walking Dead, without the zombies. I love Octavia's writing and her masterful world-building.
Interesting and readable. Some of the best stuff is in the appendices.
