I loved Metamorphosis itself but I found the other stories to be a mixed bag. I enjoyed the Meditations for the most part and while The Penal Colony was gruesome I thought it was at least poignant. The others, particularly The Fasting Artist, were hard for me to get through. I found them too disjointed. Worth it for Metamorphosis though
I enjoyed this! Josie is a fun character and her arc in this makes a really nice point 😊
Research...
Lunch time reading 👍
Getting so close! Though I'm pretty sure I'm cheating by counting all my books for my research and comics.
Starting this section of the book with my new reading buddy! Maybe he can help me finally finish this book
Super late but I'm hoping to get through my TBR this month but it's so hard with uni as well. I'll do my best!
This was good! I didn't love it as much as some other Doctor Strange comics I've read (e.g., The Oath) but I still enjoyed it enough to rate it a pick. It's enjoyable but it raises more questions than it answers in a way that was more frustrating than mysterious for me. Nonetheless I do want to continue to read this arc.
Read this story yesterday and oh my it is disturbing. It's about, essentially, punishment and justice in a colony just emerging from the clutches of despotism on the part of its colonial leaders. It's intellectually fascinating but ultimately unsettling and unpleasant.
"How is it that she is not astonished at herself, that she keeps her lips closed and says nothing of that kind?" ?
"A characteristic gesture in such a condition is to run one's little finger along one's eyebrows."
Kafka's meditations in this collection are gold ?
I read Metamorphosis itself a little while ago but I'm returning to this to finish the rest of the short stories
I love all of these books of course, but this one I have a lot of respect for in that I think this is the one where Rowling really acknowledged that the readership was growing up with Harry. A welcome and lovely revisit for me.
Steve explains the rapid changing skills of superheroes...
Alcoholic House Elves... Reasons this book is both hilarious and very sad
I don't even know what's going on in these comics anymore 😂
Omg I loved this! All our favourite DC ladies in a 1940s setting and aesthetic! 😍😍😍 The story was really good too! Looking forward to the next volume
This was great! The poor dear still manages to be awesome despite being put through the wringer. It's also just so pretty!
Enjoyed this! I'm always fascinated by Greek mythology and I liked how it was weaved into this. And let's be real, Wonder Woman is totally badass
I didn't enjoy this as much as I hoped I would. It's got a strong, complicated LGBT woman which was awesome and well handled. However, the story lost me at times, I found it kind of hard to get into and tbh there's only so much side boob art I can take before I'm wondering what the point is
This whole chapter when Hagrid is outed as being half-giant and has such a large crisis of confidence in himself is really powerful to me.
This is my first DC comic. I have no interest in choosing sides between DC and Marvel, I just want to read cool stories especially with kickass ladies. This did not disappoint. Barbara is really admirable in this. I'm not such a fan of so much narration but that's just personal preference
This was fun but also kind of sad. In a good way. Laura's awesome!
I love Hermione. I love that she gets so passionate about House Elves rights despite everyone telling her it's stupid. She is woefully ignorant about the whole situation really but she has the best of intentions. I guess I admire her compassion.
Enjoyed this one a lot! Thor is totally badass! I'm so fascinated by who she really is, I can't wait to keep reading. The gender politics of Asgard/Asgardia is really interesting and I'd like to read more about that too. Also, Odin needs to chill.
Thor is a lady after my own heart 😍
This was great! The team ups were awesome and the story actually gave Deadpool some kind of emotional weight to carry which was surprising and refreshing. My favourite so far :)
Digging the retro Deadpool issue at the beginning of the last few volumes 👌
It's probably more somewhere between pick and so-so but i'm rounding up. I liked the way it tied in with Infinity and those particular issues were really cool. I didn't quite understand Stark's point, Gamora was underserved and Angela is awesome but needs more clothes. Still fun though.
Thanos is such a downer omg
This was lots of fun! Though I feel that way about most Deadpool comics. This one was real pretty though, despite all the grossness. I liked the colouring
Started to read this on the train but a baby sat next to me and I felt bad. I'll finish it later but I'm enjoying it so far
I really enjoyed reading about Peter's backstory and his awful relationship with his father. Also gotta love Groot and Rocket kicking butt
Starting this today! Haven't read a Guardians comic before, looking forward to it
Did this really just happen? Have I missed this every time?!
Finished Secret War, it was a nice quick read but nothing to write home about
Had a really solid reading session tonight. I had forgotten how much the early part of this book makes me laugh. Excuse my dodgy Winter Soldier nails, my niece had a superhero themed party today and well, Bucky
Just finished Thin Air. It's really interesting to be in the perspective of the reporters, I'm kind of enjoying that
Can't get a hold of Alias right now so this will do for my Jessica Jones fix
"Cedric Diggory was an extremely handsome boy of around seventeen. He was a captain and Seeker of the Hufflepuff house Quidditch team at Hogwarts."
