MicheleinPhilly Love that inscription! 5y
Pelican71 I know @MicheleinPhilly ! This book has been on my TBR. I enjoyed listening to the research that she did for the book. I‘ve never read Doctor Zhivago, maybe it‘ll make the never ending TBR list 🙈 5y

I really enjoyed this book and it‘s cast of characters. Each chapter follows a storyline of one of the characters and the author does a good job of bringing it together by the end of the book. Such a great story of family and what that means. This is the first book by this author that I‘ve read, but I‘ll be sure to check out his other novels.

As soon as I opened the package I could smell the smoke. I really want to read this book.

Bookzombie I was thinking baking soda. I googled and found a video where they put the book in a gallon baggie and sprinkled in baking soda. I think that sounds messy. I wonder if you could put the book in bag with one of those boxes of baking soda that go in the fridge, which have the removable piece that allows the odors to be absorbed by the baking soda. Then leave for a few days to see if the baking soda absorbs the the odor. 5y
BethwithBooks You can put it in a plastic bag or container (anything that closes securely) with some baking soda. Depending on how strong the odor is leave it in for a few hours or a day and the baking soda should absorb the odor. 5y
Bookzombie If a gallon baggie isn‘t big enough, maybe a Rubbermaid container or something like that. 5y

I liked the description and idea of the story but I wanted more. I just finished reading, it took me longer than it should have. I‘m not sure about the ending. Maybe I missed something.

Loved the alternating narrators and plot twist. I have to admit that it wasn‘t who I thought it was at the end. My ending would‘ve been really bananas. Solid read for me. The twist and writing had me quickly turning pages.

Pelican71 @Kmmsellers 🙌🏾 Lemuria is awesome. I saw Jesmyn Ward and Grisham there in 2017. Maybe we can meet for a signing one of these days. I‘m in Hattiesburg. (edited) 6y

“I was wrong to tell you that this is a story about the failures of love. No, it is about real love, true love. Imperfect, wretched, weak love. No fairy tales, no poetry. It is about the negotiations we undertake with ourselves in the name of love. Every day we struggle to decide what to give away and what to keep, but every day we make that calculation and we live with the results.” Fi

I love a good family driven story. I was not disappointed.

This book was 🍌‘s and a trip to Crazy Town. My friend and I read it this weekend and we couldn‘t put it down until the end. So many red flags 🚩. Social services is definitely over-worked but...wow. Also, the author of the book is a trauma psychologist. This is a Kindle First book, if I remember correctly. Sometimes they can be hit or miss for me.

In my opinion, Sally Hepworth does not disappoint. This engaging story is told with two POVs alternating between past and present. Lucy and Diana have a complicated relationship but would it lead to murder? Pub date is 4/23

emtobiasz @JoScho we just really wanted to give her a human name, and I loved all the “old lady” sounding ones. Plus, our Olive looks a bit like the one in the book, and we adopted her right before Christmas. 6y
JoScho @emtobiasz it is a perfect old lady name. She was nine when I found her on the street. Great minds 🖤 6y
