I never thought I wanted a verbose, dense zombie novel, but it turns out, I really did.
One of my favorite Star Trek novels to date, really showcasing Una McCormack's talent.
Loved this pick for my book club. So raw and well crafted. I often skip YA, but this reminded me that I should give it more of a chance. Not ashamed to admit that I cried like a baby, multiple times.
Really enjoyed this on audio. A sharp analysis of how we destroy and condemn women in celebrity culture, and a reminder to me not to engage in it. Loved the historical information, sobering as it was to realize how long this has been going on.
#stormageddon, the most well read cat in Pittsburgh, is enjoying book two in NK Jemisin's Dreamblood Duology. He is wondering if cats are allowed to serve Hananja... #stormythewellreadcat #bookworm #bookcat
Today I got to meet Dave Eggers. I told him how I came to read A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius when I was 17, 16 years ago. He wrote this in my battered paperback. I nearly cried with the joy you feel when you get to say something to someone you've wanted to talk to for 16 years but never thought you would get the chance. Thanks to Penguin Bookshop for selling me his newest book, which I am excited to devour soon, at age 33. 💞📖
This year I am doing a re-read of the children's classics I have loved by listening to them on audio. Starting through my beloved Beverly Cleary collection now, and I am reminded of how special these are to me. (Also Stockard Channing narrates. 💯📖😍)
A great read in the extended Star Trek universe, focusing on my favorite character (Kira) and my favorite place (DS9). Major cliffhanger, so on to the next!
Also a great way to hit my goal of 150 books in 2016!
The most refreshing comic from an existing franchise that I have read in a long time. Beautiful art, the spirit of Star Trek and an interesting storyline. I can't wait for more.
I love books that give voice and acknowledgement to the women who have helped to shape the world as we know it, but who often go unnoticed because they weren't rich, powerful, or male. As a space geek but also just a woman, this book had it all for me, and I am glad that I now know these women's names.
I love reading the stories of women who actually did the things white men get the credit for.
