This is my grandma's favorite book, but I really didn't think I'd like it. I was so wrong! I'm not quite finished, but it's been unputdownable so far. I'm twenty-eight years old; you'd think I'd know by now that Grammy is always right.

"When serving yourself at a buffet, always return the serving spoons to the platter. If, however, you should make a serious blunder and walk away with the utensils, then bluff it through by saying in a loud voice 'It's just not dinner without a big spoon."
"Either way, the man had just won the lottery - in the Shirley Jackson sense."

I am an absolute sucker for The Return of Martin Guerre.
I wasn't excited about this one at all, but it sucked me in.
in that moment every obstacle looms large as a mountain and orogenes eat mountains for breakfast.
I think the less you know about this book going in the more enjoyable it's going to be. I'm not crazy about the ending and I have mixed feelings about the short choppy sentences, but overall I think this was well worth the time.
Not his best so far, but I'll persevere.

Absolutely devoured these. I wonder when volume 4 comes out? #24in48
I've been meaning to read this for years, but I can't say I really liked it much. The BFG's voice in my head sounded too much like Dobby and then I was just wishing I was reading Harry Potter. #24in48
#24in48 challenge: My all-time favorite book is The Master and Margarita, and I really really want to see a version where Simon Prebble narrates it. He did so well with Jonathan Strange!
I'm not totally crazy about the ending, but I'd certainly read it again.
#24in48 challenge: a book whose title could describe my life.
I absolutely loved this! I read the library's copy and immediately asked my husband to Get it next time he buys comics because I want one of my very own. #24in48 #24in48readathon
I know everyone's raving about this one, and I did enjoy it, but I think I would rather have read a nonfiction book about the Manson family. #24in48
I was expecting funny pop feminism To leave me just a little bit angry, and I got it in droves -- but the chapter where Lindy talks about losing her Dad to cancer is the most healing thing I've read since my Mom died three months ago. Must-read for feminism and grief.
