We're Canadian, but my son was curious about Rosa Parks and we found this cute book series. It details Rosa's famous incident and provides some historical context to the issues we continue to see today.

Diving in with kitty's approval! Has anyone read The Underground Railroad yet?
My youngest and I laughed so hard reading this book. The pictures are really delightful. Nancy Rose has amazing patience. I wouldn't have the patience waiting for the squirrels to show up to the "shoot".
This is literary fiction with a capital "L", but worth the effort it took me to read it. Fun fact: Madeleine Thien listened to Glenn Gould play the Goldberg Variations for 5-6 hours a day while writing this novel!
Took so long for me to understand this story, but now I finally get what the protagonist is going through.
The Robert Langdon series is a guilty pleasure of mine. I'm reading Inferno ahead of the movie release. Tom Hanks said playing Langdon is like playing Sherlock Holmes:
"... As a selfish actor, I don't mind playing the smartest guy in the room. I don't get to play the toughest guy, I don't get to play the best-looking or ... the tallest, but I do get to play the smartest guy in the room as Robert Langdon."
Love him! Who's excited for the movie?
An elegantly balanced novel is how I would describe The Light Between Oceans, as it driven both by plot and the characters who find themselves tangled up in an impossible situation. The moral dilemma they face is all the more tragic because there is NO good answer, all choices lead to tragedy and that‘s what makes this book so heartbreaking.
Crisis averted! I'm going to see Emma Donoghue speak tonight about The Wonder.
Previewing Alias Grace ahead of a read-along I'm hosting. A cozy sweater book for the start of autumn! #AliasGrace2016
