several years ago, depression stole my ability to read. after starting lexapro five weeks ago, i‘m able to read again. the last three days, i‘ve read 15 books. i‘m so glad to be back.
Picked up this book again after setting it down for awhile -- I love the writing style.

returning to this after a long, grueling day at congaree national park.

Maybe my fifth graders will get more out of it? A good story about friendship but misses some opportunities to go deeper. #bookaday

After finishing this book, I had some conflicting thoughts. It was a really compelling look at the devastating consequences of apartheid, a subject that I knew next to nothing about. However, I had some issues with the actual storytelling.

This is my favorite poem of this collection.
First read of 2017. Here I am, passing this story along. It's relevance to the current political climate cannot be overstated. I read this for the #readharderchallenge as my book about war, as well as #litsyAtoZ for my letter R.
