One of the best books I've read in awhile. Brilliant storytelling with a chilling and tragic plot.

LeahBergen Captivating, wasn't it? It surprised me. 8y

At first I was worried that the "2 books in 1" thing was a gimmick, but this is quality science fiction that never loses its message throughout the story.

hwheaties I so wanted a review copy of that one! No luck. But glad it turned out well! 8y

1. Cut a hole in a box.
2. Put your book in that box.
3. Make her open the box.
And that's the way you do it!

Super fuckin weird book that only could've been written in San Francisco in the 1960s.

Shortstack I'm kind of obsessed with it! 😬 8y
LeahBergen My brother gave me this book (and In Watermelon Sugar) when we were teenagers. He was older than me and I tried terribly hard to "get" it like he did. In retrospect, I realize that I probably just needed to be really high like he was at the time. ? 8y

Answers the question of "what would America look like if the civil war hadn't happened" and answers it rather well. He went very in-depth into the law surrounding slavery and the economic repercussions, but his characters were hard to keep straight.

Very much a feminist zine while still being very much a comic. I can't wait to see what volume 2 brings! Hurry up!

BekahB I loved all the extra details like the ads in the back. 8y

Are all of these pictures of my currently-reading books on my lap an excuse to show off my tattoo? Probably.

Alisnazzy Hell yeah! Tats or bust! 8y
NovelGirl82 I love tats!! I'm needing another one badly right now. What does the whole thing look like? (Sorry, I'm always interested to see other people's art!) 8y
amanduhduh @NovelGirl82 no you're all good, sorry it took me so long to reply. It's hard to remember that Litsy doesn't give push notifications. It's a Sparrow upside down with a quote from my favorite book, The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell 8y

It's hard to rate this book as two stars because I still think it's worth reading for various reasons. It's a thriller that DOESN'T revolve around a gone girl or a seemingly nice woman who is, SHOCKER, psychopathic. Something that's increasingly hard to find thanks to the frustrating trends publishers are constantly trying to chase.

Reading my ebook in the library to feel more bookish. I guess it's working??

amanduhduh @subwayreads eh? So far the different storylines are too different, but maybe they will all relate geniusly relate at the end 8y

Started this one today after finishing The Handsmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood.

Big hype, will it live up though?

This book has a slow start, I'm hoping it picks up. I'm sure that the timing of the release around the olympics wasn't accidental!

Alfoster @amanduhduh I think you may be pleasantly surprised at the twists and turns that come later! I ended up loving this one!! 8y
amanduhduh @Alfoster I did end up liking this one! I ended up rating it 4 stars on Goodreads and would give it a thumbs up here too 8y

Although one of the essay definitely felt disjointed from the others despite her attempts to circle it around to her main theme, the majority of this book was thought-provoking to the point of jarring.
