“I‘m not your answer, and you sure as fuck aren‘t mine.”
Why are Maggie Stiefvater books so magical? There‘s just something about them and the characters she creates that makes me want to come back to them over and over again.
I‘m loving this even more rereading it than I did the first time. 🌿
"I really don't like the planet today - can you recommend a book set far, far away?"
"It's such a secret place, the land of tears."
Gorgeous illustrations and just enough information about the different women to give a good overview of their lives.
"Like roses in his hands death blooms."
"But the wild things cried, "Oh please don't go-we'll eat you up-we love you so!""
This is a fun read so far. Despite the misconceptions about depression, I'm enjoying the story and characters.
"Dangers lurk around every corner for the strange. And with my feathered appendages, Henry's mute tongue, and my mother's broken heart, what else were we but strange?"
"Mon cœur entier pendant ma vie entière."
"I wondered how that felt, to really like yourself. And I wondered why some people didn't like themselves and others did. Maybe that's just the way it was."
"Listen you know those days when you've got the mean reds?'
'Same as the blues?'
'No,' she said slowly. 'No, the blues are because you're getting fat or maybe it's been raining too long. You're sad, that's all. But the mean reds are horrible. You're afraid and you sweat like hell, but you don't know what you're afraid of. Except something bad is going to happen, only you don't know what it is. You've had that feeling?'"
"Come to think of it, after a lifetime of feeling too much, maybe there's actually something to be said for fast and sudden."
"Why You Should Date Me - An Informative PowerPoint Presentation by Henry Page"
I'm not quite finished yet but I think this will definitely become one of my favorite books. Eugenides writes in a fascinating way that is touching while still remaining analytical.
There are Supernatural references in this book. I'm screaming.
Sunday in bed with this newest purchase. Loving it so far.
"She's brave enough to lay herself bare, to put it all out there for him to see. The pretty and the ugly and the everything."
This is such a powerful story, it's definitely one that will keep me up at night after I finish it.
“If you borrow someone else‘s clothes or their interests or their words, what they say, then it can give you a bit of a rest from yourself, I find.”
The question is, will I ever stop rereading this? And the answer is, probably not...
So far this is really innocent compared to the show, but I do quite enjoy it, especially the criticism of the prison system as well as Kermans self reflection. We'll see how the second half is.
"Little kids shoot marbles where the branches break the sun into graceful shafts of light... I just want to be pure."
This wasn't easy to read since it dealt with a topic that is very difficult for me, but it was absolutely worth reading it. It made me cry and smile all at the same time. The end is terrific and the artwork is very fitting and beautiful.
This book made me laugh out loud a couple of times and contains really good illustrations!
