Brashares' poetic style enchants, but the plot falls short. Two step children on two sides of a mixed family engage in a strange "will they?/ won't they?" and nine other indiscernible characters do things. Not for me. Instead, I'll steer my students towards Sisterhood and my friends towards The Last Summer. #YALit
