A charming book. I have struggled these past few months to finish a book after my dad passed. He was also a book lover. I came across this book and loved it. A lovely story with a touch of fantasy and ghosts. Strangers coming together to find themselves and connect with others.

Quirky, fun sci-fi story about a man down on his luck when covid and quarantine starts, who is recruited to work for an organization dedicated to the study and preservation of a mysterious creature. The tone and sarcastic humor was entertaining, light hearted, a bit corny at times, and it appeared the the author had a good time writing this, poking fun at the situation and society in general. Jurassic Park/Godzilla fans will really enjoy it.

I couldn't stand this book. Initially I appreciated some of the dark humor it then it just became tedious and unbelievable that someone consuming the drugs the main character was, all in the effort to sleep 24/7, never had a medical emergency. I was reminded the first few pages in of Ignatius Riley from Confederacy of Dunces but then it nosedived into boring, repetive scenes. The ending was ridiculous and felt lazy.

Revisiting some old friends today. I feel like I've been in a slump with my last few books and decided I needed to check in on a favorite that I haven't read in some time. I'm only a few pages in but feeling better already. Don't you just love it when that happens? 🥰❤☕️📖

An eccentric family protecting a secret from a woman who will go to any length to discover it. Throw in some mythology and fantasy and it should be a winner. However, this story fell flat. It was like the characters didn't even exist in their own world. Without giving too much away, Terrible things were happening to the family and conveniently no one else seemed to be noticing that there was anything wrong. There wasn't a lot of substance.

This is the 4th Emily Henry book I have read and I found this equally delightful as the others. Two friends travel every summer, an opposites attract kind of story but also somewhat poignant as both feel like they are on the outside looking in. I find the characters really relatable and for a little while this book gave me a vacation from the bitter cold weather and day to day stresses of life. A light hearted story.

I just couldn't get into this one at all. While the writing is lovely, there are just so many uneeded sections that didn't really seem to contribute to the overall story and made it really long winded, wandering in a way, personally, could not keep me engaged. I would have loved more of Agnes, the independent, salty writer and her new young editor and maybe it's there but I was almost 40 % of the way through and wasn't compelled to keep going.

This book is really disappointing. Fun idea if you're an Outlander fan but the main character was annoyingly naive, not in a cute way and the writing was not good. 30 yrs old, from Chicago, and not a shred of commonsense. Goes on a quest to follow Claire's path in Scotland to meet her own Jamie, gets into these weird, cringy situations that I found more annoying than charming. Gave up on finishing it. Hoped this would be fun but it wasn't.

Never heard of "cozy fantasy" until I joined a new book club and this was a pick. Really enjoyed this and it was cozy and fun. A battle weary orc Viv, who was a nomad, decides she wants to retire, put down some roots, and open a coffee shop where most people haven't heard of coffee before. A cast of characters shows up (I loved Thimble) as she works to open her new business while hiding a secret someone is out to find. This was just a nice story

A story about the history and horror of Dracula and a quest to find his tomb. Listened to the audio version. The narrators were very good. Rich with a lot of historical details, suspenseful, and a few scary moments. I read it when it first came out and decided I wanted to re-vist it again. This is not a fast read and you do have to pay attention but I enjoyed the stories within the story and found it to be as eerie as I remembered it.

I can't say I was a huge fan of Dave Grohl's music but I read really good reviews so listened to the audio version over the holidays while doing a lot of driving.I am Gen X but no need to be Gen X or a punk/grunge fan to appreciate his story. Grohl read the audio version and it was fabulous. It was more like sitting listening to a friend tell stories as he found his passion in life. He is very down to earth, very humble, and very talented.

This popped up on a number of Recommended lists for urban fantasy. Interesting concept. I am always amazed by the creativity people have to come up with these kinds of stories. If you are in to urban fantasy, I think you will like this. I'm on the library waitlist for the next book in the series.

I loved this book. I loved the character descriptions. I loved the story. It's just the kind of book that I curled up in bed with, during a cold winter day, with a good cup of coffee (or sometimes a glass of wine), that didn't require any super intense scrutiny or analysis. This brought me to tears. What I love about good writers is how they can sum up emotions that I would struggle to describe clearly myself. I connected really strongly with this because my Dad is going through s second battle with cancer and it's been really rough for him. He is such a strong person. Trying to be hopeful but his struggle has been difficult to watch because of the feeling of being helpless to do anything. 💔 💔 💔

I really do enjoy Ilona Andrews's writing. It is fun, creative, and every so often gems like this are dropped in. "

I have only just started this book and already I like it. I completely empathize with this character.

A haunted house, wizards, romance, and a nefarious villain. An uncomplicated, lighthearted read. Set in and around Boston in the 19th century, a man inherits a haunted house (which he doesn't believe is haunted) and it changes his life forever. Not to be taken too seriously, this was a fun read.

I loved this book. The writing was beautiful and deeply moving. The story is of a family dealing with a terrible loss told from the perspective of the 13 year old son looking back on the events as an adult. He reflects on what he learned about himself, his family, and life in general. It was emotional, spiritual and I couldn't put it down.

Just in time for Halloween. A YA urban fantasy story of a girl who feels like an outcast in a family of witches until one day a stranger shows up at her family store asking for assistance in finding and object and in a case of mistaken identity she agrees to help, setting off a chain of events that will change her life and could destroy her family. An entertaining story, very easy read, uncomplicated plot. It's no Harry Potter but that's OK. :)

After all the hype, I was underwhelmed by the story. The description of the main character's loneliness and isolation, the beauty of the marsh were detailed and at times made for some emotional reading but the overall drama and ending felt a bit flat. A solid read but not one that left me thinking I am so glad I finally was able to read it.

This book came highly recommended. This is just in the Epigraph and already I am looking forward to diving in. A new book,a quiet Sunday morning, a hot cup of coffee. Bliss.

If you like urban fantasy with strong female leads, similar to Briggs and Harrison, you will really like this series. I am really enjoying it so far. This next installment was as interesting and engaging as the prior ones. The premise is creative, the character descriptions provide a good visual and I found the story interesting. Definite must read if you enjoy the genre.

This isn't a bad murder mystery but it's not a great one either. It wasn't a page turner for me. I put it down and then came back to it because I did want to find out who did it. There were some characters introduced that gave the appearance of having much more involvement but then just disappeared from the pages so that didn't leave a lot of guessing who the killer would be. JK Rowling's first venture into non-fantasy was OK and has potential.

This passage was so relatable. I read this book a few years ago but this time around I took my time. It is urban fantasy set in the not so distant future, starts off a little choppy but overall engaging and darkly creative.

It was time to re-visit this book and it did not disappoint. I love the inner dialog, the historical details, the character descriptions and just the amazing amount of thought that went into this book and the series.

Really enjoyed this book. My 12 year old cousin gave this book because she loves the series and wanted me to read it. When I was a kid I loved reading mythology. I enjoyed a modern take on Greek mythology. Very creative and interesting characters.

Something about this passage broke my heart just a little. It just conveyed a sense of aloneness that made me a bit sad.

Eeic Larson doesn't disappoint. His research and ability to make the people and major hisotrical tragedy come to life make this book a first rate read. It not only describes the tragedy but also tells the sroey of the development of the Weather Bureau. History fans will appreciate Larson's work.

Too funny not to share with fellow book lovers.

I enjoyed this mystery novel. There isn't a ton of action, but I enjoyed the suspense and it kept me engaged until the end which became much more exciting. Ruth Ware tends to follow a certain formula, as most writers do, but there is nothing wrong with that if the story is engaging.

Really enjoyed the book that introduced the world to Inspector Gamache. The descriptions of the town, the conversations between the characters and their inner dialogue was wonderful. It was not over the top, the characters were interesting and I look forward to reading what they get up to next in book 2.

Terrible plot- FBI agent gets in trouble, put on a desk, given a chance to redeem herself by going undercover to investigate disappearances and killings in a small town. Within an hour of arriving, someone dies on her doorstep. A normal person who said they were looking for quiet would promptly leave. Then she gets personally involved with a local within a day of arrival and jumps to all the wrong conclusions. Much better mysteries out there.

Listened to the audio version of this. I like Jo Nesbo and know his books have darker tones and flawed heroes but this one was not engaging at all. It just dragged on and on. The characters felt very one dimensional and the *surprise* ending wasn't much of a surprise. I finished it mainly because I was waiting for holds on other audiobooks. The narrator was good even though the story didn't do it for me.

YA urban fantasy. Book 1 in a series. I enjoyed the story and the ending left me with enough questions to want to continue on to Book 2 of the series to find out what happens next. A nice distraction at the end of the day.

Very sweet story about three women with different struggles who meet for a cookbook club. It was a quick read and a nice little distraction from the real world for a while. I did love the sections that described rediscovering a love for cooking more intricate dishes. It inspired me one night to go out and splurge on a nice meal. No surprises or major plot twists. If you are looking for some light reading I recommend it.

I am currently listening to the audio version of this book. I suppose if I had not grown up around the very accents the narrators are trying to pull off I would enjoy it more but the bad accents are pretty distracting. I wish they had just cast real Irish actors. I might just have to abandon the audio for print. Skip the audio, stick with the print instead. This is definitely NOT a Juvenile Fiction book. There are some pretty racey sex scenes.

Creative story, brought me back to a time when I was really into mythology. I liked the book but didn't love it which surprised me after all the rave reviews I read. It is a very creative, behind the scenes look at Circe's life and includes many of the most well known characters and stories in Greek mythology. If you are a fan of mythology, you will like this book.

This book was an eye opener for me. All of a sudden, things made sense. I wish this book had been around when I was in high school and college. It would have completely changed my perception of myself.
Susan Cain did a lot of research for this book explaining the difference between introverts, extroverts, and how to cope as an introvert. It is a must read for anyone who has felt out of place in our social media, extrovert obsessed world.

This book was disappointing. To say the pace was slow is putting it mildly. When I was almost three quarters through I was still waiting for something significant to happen and it never did. Some of the descriptions were beautiful but ultimately, there was no big reveal, and it ended up not even being very suspensful. It was very underwhelming and predictable. Very disappointing as I have read French's other books and enjoyed them.

I have just started listening to the audio version of this book on my increasing commutes to and from work. It can take an hour or more sometimes so I started listening to books to pass the time. I haven't finished it yet but I am hooked. It is humorous and heart warming. The premise revolves around a reading list popping up in random places that characters find and for various reasons have all started reading the books on the list.

My guilty pleasure. There's been a lot going on and I needed something light and entertaining to get my mind off the insanity so it was time to revisit this series. Vampires, shapeshifters, fairies, demons with some romance, mystery, and intrigue thrown in. Book 10 in the Sookie Stackhouse series is just as insane and entertaining as the first 9 books. Serious literature it is not, but it sure is creative, entertaining and silly.

Reading this story was a little bittersweet for me. It is a story about survivors - cancer, mental health, abuse. I picked up this book and was reading it as I have been helping a family member fight cancer so it is safe to say that my opinion about it is a bit skewed. I ended up really enjoying the story about a woman, man, and child who find and start to heal each other. I can't say that I loved this book but I did really like it.

Sweet story, no big surprises. A nice, easy read that doesn't require a ton of focus. A little magic, a little romance, some family drama, a small town with quirky residents who give the place some flavor. It was a good book to curl up with at night after a few long stressful days of work. It gave me the urge to want to learn how to bake pies, a perfect activity for the winter.

Loved this book. Light read, not heavy at all. Perfect for a quiet evening in. The plot was not intense, there were a few passages that were very relatable and it had its humorous moments. Made me wish that we still had more independent bookstores around. As it is, I just randomly came acrose this book while browsing in my local library. I love it when that happens. You don't have that same experience with digital books at all.
