At age 50, Tim Parks began to experience debilitating chronic pain. When no diagnosis was forthcoming, he embarked on a quest to solve the problem himself and discovered meditation. Parks is an accomplished writer -- this is a very fine book.

What a revelation! Wish I'd read this year's ago. The effect of teling the story in verse is like one those paintings where what the artist leaves out shapes the image.

Pickpick

Hannah Kent weaves elements of a true story into her compelling tale of fear, suspicion and 'the old ways'.

I found this paperback in the English language section of a second hand bookshop in Barcelona -- 35 years after I first read it. It's one of 5 books that's helped me through tough times. Bit.ly/2p17EOC
