Loved this book! Such an interesting and mystical concept. Seeing how the siblings futures unfold had me full of suspense. Intriguing read.
Admirable reilience and strength of the main character Cora. Some unexpected twists and brutal moments but a little confusing at times. Not my favourite book.
Had a change recently and read some magical realism and enjoyed it!
"The Future is never set in stone."
Heartbreaking read. I read this in one sitting on a bus on a day out. My mouth fell open at the tragedies endured by so many in this book. What strength those people had. Incredible story that needed to be shared. The glimmer of hope that Late carried and love he had in his heart. 💙
Enjoyed this just as much as Three Daughters of Eve. 💛 Such a talented writer. Sensual novel. Tragic but mighty powerful characters.
First book I read from this author last year.
Love her. Her descriptions of food, sense of belonging and cultures, women's experiences and attention to detail. 🌙
The choices that frame your life fascinate me.
This page from Normal People struck a chord with me. Totally understand Connell's thoughts/feelings here.
Past, present, future interlinked. 🕐⌚⏳
What a lovely hopeful ending.
I am optimistic about my 30s.
Life is a series of pathways.
Millennial girls bible. 🤣👍❤ Some interesting insights, great social commentary and humour throughout. All relationships explored: romantic, parental, friends.
Haven't read a chic lit (or Sophie Kinsella) in years but found this on my sister's bookshelf and needed something easy. Although I found the female protagonist Frustrating with a capital F, I ended up reading the whole book. Funny parts.
Cool concept. Scarily possible. Started this book last year and moved away, came back home for a visit and finished it off.
Currently reading this, my first Zadie Smith and I am starting to get the characters personalities but I am not quite gripped yet...
Surprised myself by picking up this thriller. A book o would used to have read but have gone off. It was nice to jump back in to an easy read thriller. 👍 Interesting plot line and suspense throughout.
Debated reading this after the hype and afyer watching the series, but so glad that I did. What an awesome writer Sally Rooney is. Same age as me, really relatable style and way of viewing the world. The series did a good job of staying true to the book too. Can't wait to read Conversations with Friends now!
Undecided. Found the plot a little confusing at times. Enjoyed the protagonist Mr Bank's narration. The character of Sarah was the draw of the book for me.
The opening page reminded me to be grateful. I don't feel the need to return to the past because everyone I love and need are right here ❤
Found a fondness for short stories this last year... Although I enjoyed the family relationships and concept of this book, I still don't think it lived up to the hype. Easy, shorter read.
Had this on the go for a while and feel very happy to have accomplished finishing it yesterday. Great, gripping story set in different countries and locations. Nice to read something different!
This book on my mind today. Always love a Jodi Picoult book ❤
Was reading this two Springs ago in the sun. ☀
Whilst I am thinking about short stories...
An all time favourite. Such an important book to me. ❤🧡💜💙💚💛 Stories for every woman.
Loved these gripping short stories by this South Korean author. Such a unique story-teller. Explosive plots and unnerving narrative style. Digging it.
I love this. Something about an enduring, love overdue love story that gets me. The tree metaphor too ❤😍🌳📚
So glad I have discovered this historical fixation author! Loved this book. Impactful ❤🇪🇸
'Some historians have described the Pact of Forgetting as necessary for a smooth and peaceful transition. Others question the long-term effects of silence on historical memory, identity construction, and human dignity.' - Ruta Sepetys
How gorgeous is this front cover though. 😍 This spectacular sequel was filled with magic, mystery and a twist. Core characters stayed strong in this and there was an edition of a new lovable rogue. Action and battles the whole way through. When is book no. 3?! 🧡
After struggling to start an adult book recently, I picked up this YA fiction and loved it. Fantasy escapism for lockdown days. Well developed characters, powerful scenes and deep themes. You also get glimpses into a Nigerian culture. Now gimme the sequel... 👍🇳🇬📔🖤
Stuck indoors on this rainy day, making me think of reading outdoors in cafes and parks last summer. 📖
This book was easy reading, enjoyed the main character's realness and strength and how character's pasts weave into their present. Modern book but I didn't love it as much as I thought I would.
Oh to rummage through the shelves of old books... ❤😍📖

'Without love, nothing can be understood.' ♥
'Love is a map, not a destination. That's why there is no such thing as happily ever afters.' ♥
Writing about love because it is one of the most difficult things to understand.
This description of a tattooed man 😂😂😂👍 In Ove's dry, coarse narration, I can hear my own grandad's voice. 🧓👍
❤ this book.
'Life is a Curious Thing.'
What a wonderfully, smoke masterpiece. How can you not grow to love grumpy, old Ove?
Simply written, heartwarming story with a hilarious central character. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I finished this last year, after being given it by a colleague. I am now picking up another of his that has been sat on my bookshelf, 'A Man Called Ove'. I found the style of this 'My Grandmother...' book an adjustment because it rides along the borders of fantasy and imagination, blurring reality. A heartwarming grandmother/granddaughter relationship. ❤
My last read of January was this little, easy read. I enjoyed the flicking between decade/20 year periods and seeing Bill's life unfold and the path that her life took. I love the change in her from a young passive, scared young woman to a liberated lady in control of her own choices. I was quickly transported to another life in South Africa.
Eagerly awaiting the reopening of bookshops and book cafes, to once again peruse the shelves and lose an hour sniffing that lovely book smell. 🤣👃📚 #lisbon #bookshop #betrand Wishing I picked up Out - Kirino whilst I was there last time! Anyone read it?
Watching 'It's a Sin' currently and it reminds me so much of this masterpiece by Rebecca Makkai. It was, without a doubt, my favourite book of last year. I had tears coming down my face when finishing it whilst on a public coach coming across Portugal. Both heart warming and heart breaking. Dynamic and loveable characters. The story brings to life the 80s era in America and the insidious AIDS virus. So Incredible.
A perfect accompannying beverage. 👍🍶 So much, in such a compact book. Densely compressed with meaning, imagery and metaphor. I loved the scattered narration. Glimpses and fragments of a life. Repeated symbolism and revisited motifs. Changing perspectives and perception of people. An exploration of identity, maternal, paternal and romantic relationships. Role of language. A different and engaging read. Emotive yet unemotional. Many layers.
Book recommendations by the customers on Haight-Asbury San Francisco. 👍🧡 Love this idea.

"Life itself is the most wonderful fairy tale." Hans Christian Andersen
I loved this bookstore in San Fransisco because the customers left little recommendations and tags for others in the store. ??❤
First book of the year 2021.
Finally got around to reading this, after lending it to the family.
Themes: Nature. Voyeurism. Loneliness. Human nature. Humanity. Family. Abandonment.
Not as hyped as others about this.
