Two story threads, both great. I think I was expecting more of a connection to be uncovered between the two, which felt perhaps a little anticlimactic, but I struggle to hold that against it, as it was a great read 😊

I adored this book, and it instantly made it into my top 5 all-time favourite reads.
"He would have cooked it himself but for my mother's complete conviction that she was the only person in our house who could tell a saucepan from a piano".
Only a few pages in and I already have a strong feeling I will enjoy this one...
What a fantastic book! I really enjoyed the world-building - the library and the witch club in particular. Beautifully written and emersive. One of those stories that will continue living on in my mind for some time.
"We all live in bubbles, and mine is an adorable bi bubble".
???
This is such an important book. Bi-erasure is all too real, isolating, and invalidating, and until reading this book I hadn't realised the gaping space that it had filled. Queerness in all its forms should be celebrated, and this book gives an honest focus but with plenty of positivity. Even a self-proclaimed well-informed bi like myself still had plenty to learn from this book.
I was really looking forward to reading this, but struggled to get very far. The writing felt shallow and childish, and I just gave up.
A great read. Probably my favourite of Kidd's. Fun and endearing.
I adored reading this book. It's the kind of story that I know will be sticking around in my mind for a while yet.
I discovered Le Guin after hearing that she was an inspiration of Becky Chambers, and I can 100% see that in the details of the differences between the worlds' species, e.g. kemmer.
I enjoyed this book so much! A great concept well executed.
Enjoying a cozy day of reading with my new buddy 😊🐈⬛

Easy and nostalgic. Firefly is always a safe go-too 😊
Torn between "pick" and "so-so". A nice enough book. Some parts were quite endearing, others a bit dull and I found myself inadvertently skimming through. Glad I read it, but not one I will be dwelling on.
"We are all stardust and stories"
"I think the best stories feel like they're still going, somewhere, out in story space"
"Reading a novel, he supposes, is like playing a game where all the choices have been made for you ahead of time by someone who is much better at this particular game."
"You keep asking me why work is not enough, and I don't know how to answer that, because it is enough to exist in the world and marvel at it. You don't need to justify that, or earn in. You are allowed just to live. That is all most animals do".
I'm not usually one for re-reading, but this book is so soothing that I find myself coming back again. I adore Chambers' immersive worlds, and am so looking forward to the next one.
I'm not religious at all, but the idea of a God of Small Comforts is one I could certainly get behind.
I'm about halfway through this incredible read. Haunting and beautifully written.
