My hubs seems to be offended at times when I‘m just wanting to read and be alone beside him. Anyone else deal with a non-reading extrovert husband who doesn‘t get it? #todayisoneofthosedays

laurieluna On a weekend when my partner is home, I'll ask for some alone time, usually in the bath, just to unwind and read. He then comes in and tries to talk to me and as nice as that is, sometimes I just want quiet because my ears have had 2 small kids to deal with all week. I usually tell him to go away. 😂 6y
WhatThePuck I just had a conversation with @Whimsical.Curiosity about this last night, this morning...? Not sure how it counts. 😂 I have a new job that requires me, the introvert, to deal with a LOT of type A personalities and I come home exhausted. He told me last week he feels like I've checked out and I'm never coming back. I just need an hour of alone time each day and I'll be fine. 6y
Yeah_I_Read My husband isn‘t an extrovert but he is an early bird non-reader and I‘m a night owl and sometimes he bitches that I stay up too late reading so I completely understand. Don‘t let him get you down. 6y

ginganinja I'm actually the extrovert who loves to read! He's the introvert who doesn't read so we're very backwards in my house. 6y
Valink My husband wants to be entertained. By me. All the time. He doesn‘t get it that sometimes I just want to be quiet and still. 6y
Weaponxgirl Single atm so not a problem with significant others but my Job requires me to connect with people so I'm often worn out and some people just don't understand why I need alone time to recharge before I can be social with them. It used to be a problem with exes though 6y
Samplergal @WhatThePuck I‘m a retired pediatric Speech Language pathologist and came home limp every night from the “performances” every day of trying to get non-verbal kids to verbalize. Oy. I get it. It‘s better now. 6y
Samplergal @Valink get a puppy for him. That should entertain him. 😂💩 6y
Valink @Samplergal we HAVE a puppy! Well, three year old dog, but she‘s like a puppy. She‘s too much work for him though. He wants entertainment without responsibility! 🙄 (edited) 6y
Sophoclessweetheart My entire family don‘t get get this. Me and my 3yr old daughter can sit in companionable silence and read together (or sometimes she will draw instead) but anyone else is lost to the understanding x 6y
WhatThePuck @Samplergal I have a toddler too. He greeted me at my car door when I got home from work yesterday. He wanted to tell me all about his "Fiderman" Lego car they had just built together. ??? 6y
Itchyfeetreader This resonates! I can see he words building up in him if I enforce quiet reading before he has had a chance to dump his day. So to speak 6y
Deblovestoread I became an accountant so I could work with numbers not people. That didn‘t work out so well. By the time I am home I am peopled out. On the days my husband has been home alone with just the 4 legged kids he is wanting to talk talk talk and my eyes glaze over. 6y
Samplergal 😂😂😂 I see I‘m not alone! 6y
Samplergal @Valink oh. Seemed like a great solution. Lol 6y
Samplergal @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego spoken like a true introvert! 6y
DiruVamp 🙌🏻🙌🏻 6y
2BR02B @Valink my SO is the same. As an introvert it is so draining to be expected to pay attention to someone at all times. He says he just needs to process his thoughts aloud and I can tune him out if I want, but he doesn't understand that I would literally have to plug up my ears to do that. 6y
2BR02B And @Samplergal he doesn't like dogs so a puppy is unfortunately out of the question! 😄 6y
RavenLovelyReads That quote is sooo accurate! 🤓 6y
Whimsical.Curiosity @WhatThePuck totally this morning 😉😘 that's what you gotta do, alone time at 2am haba. 6y
hwestfall This is the story of my life. 6y
TEArificbooks Oh, yes. If I sit there reading on the couch he sees it as a personal insult that I would delibrately and rudely ignore him. It doesn't matter that he is playing on the computer or the phone himself, I am the anti social one. He wants me available to listen to him for ever random thought that pops in his head and doesn't wanna feel guilt for interrupting me. So I don't read when he is home amd awake. 6y
bookandbedandtea Me! Me! Plus friends and family who don't get it. 😧 6y
quietlycuriouskate Reading these comments has brought home to me how lucky I am. Introversion is an extreme sport in our household: we're all Olympic standard! 6y
