BarkingMadRead
A Passage to India | E. M. Forster

AnnR @BarkingMadRead - I think you said it all. Wow! Just wow! I was just relieved Adela got rid of her echo, just in the knick of time for Dr. Aziz. 1y
willaful I truly wasn't expecting that! Still have kind of a feeling of dread. The whole situation is so volatile. 1y

Bklover You have definitely outdone yourself with today‘s ### 🩵 1y
jenniferw88 I'm just glad that the song I chose to go with this book for #dramaqueen #titlesandtunes makes sense, as Fielding is called a renegade in ch.24! @Cinfhen @BarbaraBB 1y
TheAromaofBooks Seriously head-spinning. Honestly, I was the most shocked about Mrs. Moore! 1y
BarkingMadRead @Bklover I almost ran out of space! 1y
BarkingMadRead @TheAromaofBooks it felt so out of left field! 1y

dabbe @TheAromaofBooks That cave really messed with her; it's like she completely lost the will to live after that. I wish Forster would tell us more about why the heck that was such a complete life-altering-to-death experience for her. 1y
BarbaraBB @jenniferw88 Spot on 🙌🏽 1y
TheAromaofBooks @dabbe - It just seemed so strange! I understood her having this sort of internal/spiritual shake up, but it seemed a little bizarre that hearing some echoing voices was enough to make her reject all of her religious beliefs and descend into complete apathy!? I felt so bad for her - she didn't have anyone to talk it out with, to offer her reassurances or alternate views. 😕 1y
dabbe @TheAromaofBooks This has been a strange book for me on the whole: I mean, what was even the point of having her in the book and then killing her offstage? And what the heck is the big deal about an echo? Caves echo; get used to it, people.

The wording has been bizarre in places, too, plus how people talk to each other. But, maybe that's the point. We're supposed to feel weird because they feel weird relating to one another. 🤷‍♀️

TheAromaofBooks @dabbe - This book has done a great job capturing a general sense of unease and uncertainty, the fragility of a system that assumes everyone “knows their place“ and can't handle anyone deciding they don't like that place. But as a story... it's been somewhat lacking for me 😂 1y
dabbe @TheAromaofBooks Much better said than what I wrote. Agree 💯! I 😍 A ROOM WITH A VIEW, but this one not so much. 🤣 1y
