"Principles are like prayers; noble, of course, but awkward at a party."

Makes me want to re-watch

Panpan

Collection of short stories where 13 meets celebrities and historical figures. I love an Amelia Earhart story but it missed the point with being a previous iteration of the Doctor.

Becoming Sister Wives: The Story of an Unconventional Marriage | Janelle Brown, Kody Brown, Meri Brown, Christine Brown, Robyn Brown
post image

My daughter and I binged Sister Wives last year when she and my granddaughter were living with us. It was a great nightly ritual for us to unwind together after busy days. Since Christine's book just came out, I figured I'd start at the beginning before reading it.

Prairiegirl_reading Christine‘s book is pretty good! 5d
TheBookgeekFrau @Prairiegirl_reading Good to know! This one is good, too. A lot of stuff from the show, with a bit of a deeper look into the start of the family. 4d

Today's theatre experience: Austen's Pride 💖🎶📖
This was such a lovely musical with the best parts of Pride and Prejudice, framed by the narrative of Austen's writing and editing of the story. Funny and sweet and highly enjoyable

staci.reads Sounds fun! 1w

That California
sun certainly makes your skin
soft, doesn‘t it?

My very favorite episode of Lucy, L.A. At Last!

JenlovesJT47 @dabbe yes!!! He and Cary Grant are my 2 faves from Old Hollywood. I fell in love with Mr. Holden watching this episode long before I started watching classic movies. He was a great actor. 2w
JenlovesJT47 @lil1inblue me too! They‘re the best ♥️♥️♥️ 2w
lil1inblue @JenlovesJT47 I was just looking for something to watch, too. I think I'll hit Lucy up. 🥰 2w
dabbe @JenlovesJT47 And so damn sexy... just like Cary. I loved him in SABRINA, and I loved that he was with Stefanie Powers at the end of his life (adore her in HART TO HART). 2w
JenlovesJT47 @dabbe I LOVE Sabrina. They were in love with each other during the filming and he was going to leave his wife for her but he had had a vasectomy and Audrey wanted children. There‘s a really good book about it 2w
JenlovesJT47 @lil1inblue can‘t go wrong with Lucy! There‘s an I Love Lucy channel on Pluto which is free, plays 24/7 so I have it on quite frequently. ♥️♥️♥️ 2w
AnnCrystal 🤩 Lucy in LA 👏🏼🐝👌🏼😂📺🐝💝. 2w
dabbe @JenlovesJT47 😱 I had no idea! Now I love them both even more! #stacked 2w

He focuses on the least interesting parts of his life and the dullest jokes. It would have helped if an experienced author had written it for him and sifted through the mundane.

Pickpick

Fred Rogers was, by all accounts, a hugely decent human being who used his primary platform (Mister Rogers' Neighborhood) to address pressing issues in a subtle way. Long is careful not to glorify the man, and reveals tensions between Betty Aberlin and Rogers when the latter refused to move beyond subversive messaging about the Gulf War. His friendship and professional relationship with opera singer Francois Clemmons receives some nuance.

Bossypants | Tina Fey
Bailedbailed

This was an IRL book club pick: I just couldn‘t get into the pop culture/humour, although I appreciated some of what Fey had to say about challenges she faces as a woman comedian and artist. Other club members really enjoyed it. I guess I‘m Just Too Serious.🧐
