It‘s been a wonderful solstice. A long walk along the river in the snowy woods and reading the tagged book by the light of the Christmas tree. It‘s a book we will come back to. Thanks @TheBookHippie for the great lists of recommendations!

Happy Solstice! Blessed Yule! This day reminds me to take a deep breath, enjoy the light and feel some hope in the chaos around me. I love slipping away from the commercial world to have moments of focus back on nature. I will have wassail and a fire tonight , my family tradition for 9 years- and Brynne is home to make the wassail!!! 🕯️🤍🕯️I hope all of you experience some calm too💙(tagging some who celebrate but wishing for everyone)

GingerAntics Of the 12 stories, only 6 can be readily found independent of the book in any form. Of those 6, three are either misnamed or given the wrong location, and a fourth is heavily changed, to the point of being a different story. The final story is part of Epiphany celebrations in Italy and nothing new to Catholic school pupils who had creative religion teachers. 5mo

GingerAntics The “solstice” songs at the end are Christmas carols she changed some of the words to. The activities are slightly augmented Christmas traditions from around the world. She has sources, but even those don‘t come up for half the stories, so she‘s either changed them beyond recognition or combined multiple stories. 5mo
