I will not call this "Aligator anything", no this is Donald's Dachau...the 1st concentration camp established by the Nazi's. They were so proud of their 1st concentration camp that they would have sold merch if they could have too.

I created a special cubby on my bookshelf filled with some of my nephew‘s books. Some were in his backpack when he died, others were ones we had bought together or I had gifted him. The framed item is his Ex Libris stamp. The flowers from one of the funeral bouquets we were sent. It‘s a sweet way to be reminded of him every day since we connected so deeply over what we were reading.

My father was in WWII. He was in a communications unit attached to the 3rd division. His stories were interesting. I read this book in the 80s. It makes me wonder how kids would fair if we had another World War and a draft. I hope we never find out.

It worked! A heartfelt, heartwarming account of one small town‘s efforts to bring big joy to hundreds of thousands of servicemen/women in WWII. Even with war as the background, this book was sweet, and a welcome reminder of human kindness.

It is the author‘s diary of the entrance of Italy during World War II, and her unique perspective as a well-connected British woman living with her Italian husband in the countryside of Italy. Its commentary on the realities of living under fascism, effects of propaganda and the manner in which people continued to live their lives is as relevant today as it was 85 years ago.
pickI thought this was a good read. It provided a good overview of the Pacific Theater of WW2. While the U.S. and Japan were the primary focus, other countries involved (such as Australia and Britain) were included as well. Besides major battles and campaigns, other topics include some political aspects, as well as some personal dynamics, like the rivalry between the army and navy. Definitely recommend.
