This month‘s spiritual direction read. I‘m way more into it than I thought I would be. We all can be addicted to something- control, success, relationships- and the author makes a great case for this.

Super overdue review for my June #DoubleSpin. I read this for a spiritual direction seminar, and found a lot of it really helpful as far as the practicalities of spiritual direction—both in practicing spiritual direction with others, as well as honestly confronting your own internal habits and avoidances. A lot of it is really dated, especially when it comes to gender, but I will definitely return to it for the wisdom it offers in many other ways.

The chapters that actually dealt with the “clobber verses” were interesting and full of important information. But the chapters about Colby Martin‘s personal journey felt a little too “look how great I am” for my taste.
Very good read. Combined from three novellas, this novel was very well written. Learning different doctrinal points through the basis of a book and viewing the learning experience of the different curates was enthralling. While one may say they would never do such a thing as the curates, it's easy to see where they went wrong and how we too could fall into the trap. From liberalism to legalism to orthodox, Giertz certainly captivates his audience.
My mom was given this book by a friend in 2009 when my Poppy went into hospice. She and I both read it. Written by hospice nurses, it was so helpful in understanding what my grandfather was going through in his last days. I have recommended this book often and I cannot recommend it enough.

Generally love Peterson‘s books but this one felt challenging to me right now. Not sure if it was the place I am right now or the book itself. My interest dissolved as I read along to where I was just staring at pages toward the end.
I just finished another book. I read this book for #bookishbingo for the prompt “Under 400 Pages” and I‘m counting this book for reading challenges that I‘m participating in this year.
