“…I‘m your great-aunt Tootie.” “Beg pardon?” Even Margot couldn‘t be sure which part she was questioning—the “biological” bit or the the ridiculous nickname. Even in the South, people new better than to name their children Tootie, right?
RamsFan1963 I had an uncle whose nickname was Tootie. It's the only name I knew him by until he got into his 40s and would only answer to his real name of James. And yes, I'm from the South and it's not that uncommon a nickname. 3y
DebinHawaii @RamsFan1963 Yes, I mean no insult as I had a great-aunt nicknamed Tootie & I am not from the south. (And her sister was nicknamed Fritzie & I guess they were referred too collectively as “Toots & Fritz”) I think it‘s an era thing too. 😆 I went to all my southern books for a pardon quote & this is the one I liked best. 3y
RamsFan1963 @DebinHawaii I didn't take it as an insult. Sorry if my message came out that way. 3y
DebinHawaii @RamsFan1963 Oh good. I didn‘t think so but I didn‘t want you or anyone else (including Toots & Fritz from above) thinking I meant it in an insulting way. 😉🤗 3y
