Agnes Grey: Large Print | Anne Anne Bront

eeclayton I read this about 6 or 7 years ago, but I have zero memories of the plot, so it feels like reading it for the first time. 2y
Ruthiella When she mentioned that she was babied by her family and not taught to sew, I thought she was maybe 9 or 10, not 19! 😂 2y

willaful This has such a different feel from the other Bronte books. I hope it continues to be somewhat lighthearted. 2y
BarkingMadRead @Ruthiella Omg me too!! 2y
BarkingMadRead @willaful I hope so!! 2y
Bookwormjillk My tags aren‘t working so I missed the first day. What is this? A character I sort of like? Not sure what to say. 2y
Clare-Dragonfly @Ruthiella Right?! Her family is doing a real disservice by babying her! I am concerned for her independent future. 2y
Clare-Dragonfly I liked how one of their ideas for making more money was to have the daughters paint and sell their art—just like Mrs. Graham does in The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. And I found the list of specific economies they took really interesting! 2y
dabbe At least in Ch. 1, it's hard to separate Agnes from Ann. It does seem to be rather autobiographical so far, with the exception of having the mother still alive and a strong presence for Agnes. This is setting up the novel to be a classic bildungsroman, where we will witness Agnes's formative years and her spiritual education. 2y
DebinHawaii Can you add me to the tag list? Starting a day late but I‘m going to try to keep up! 😉 2y
BarkingMadRead @DebinHawaii I will add you! 2y
