- Weekend away in London was awesome! Absolutely knackered now though - I think it will take me several more days to recover.

-Tagged book: I appreciate the term “lezzing off” so much 😂

- Bath bomb was another LushxMinecraft collab: Diamond Ore. These are so well done…I love how they look, smell and feel. #bathbomb #minecraft #london #lush

I‘ve been away from Litsy for two years and could not believe it had been so long when I just logged in and checked my last post. Reading fell by the wayside as I went through what I suppose is semi-retirement due to health stuff. I have no idea what I‘ve filled my time with, but it hasn‘t been productive in any meaningful way. I‘m okay though. I think.

Bath bomb is from the MinecraftxLush collab. #minecraft #bathbomb #bathing #relaxation

This is an excellent exploration of neurodiveristy, terminology definition (which was so helpful!), and applying queer theory. It took a long time to get around to what the author meant by neuroqueer theory, but she explains it extremely well, and everything leading up to it aptly broadened my understanding before we got there. There's a lot from this book that I take away to use in my life both in understand and making space for neurodiveristy.

Kenyazero Also, huge kudos for calling Autism Speaks what it is: a hate organization. (edited) 1w

Excellent book for talking about empathy and forgiveness. Also a great segue to discuss safety. I'll be asking the students to define safety and it's revealed on this page that Bitsy hadn't felt safe. I find that younger students stop at happy & sad, so this is eye opening. But if you can feel safe, why isn't safety a feeling? This book became gobs more impressive after reading it to the kids.

I very much liked that it‘s not overstuffed full of the usual tips, tricks, over-enthusiastic how-to‘s you get in every other self-help book. It gives lots to consider, think about & reflect on. The ADD website they give is interesting & sounds super helpful…all for a $ of course🙄 Well worth the listen imo👍🏻

This was written to be a textbook and sometimes it really feels like it. But it also has some valuable viewpoints to share and spells out a lot of terminology around neurodiversity that people have been using very loosely. (Me included.) Definitely worth reading if you're interested in the topic. A soft pick for me because I don't really appreciate academic writing.

Faranae I found this book actually kind of offensive, with phrases like “tame autistic“, the dismissal of asexuality, and the policing of other people's language use in regard to their own identity. Some of that loose terminology IS loose - Walker just has decided its her way or the highway. There were interesting thoughts in there, but it was also hyperfocused on a specific kind of autism, which is problematic as an academic framework. 3mo
willaful Good point. I missed the asexuality dismissal. 3mo

This was a really insightful book, having recently been diagnosed with ADHD this was a nice and supportive overview.

After a truly challenging childhood and adolescence, plagued with symptoms and struggles that go undiagnosed and misdiagnosed, Brady is finally diagnosed with autism as an adult. She endured years of frustrating and painful experiences for lack of appropriate care. Autism can present differently in women; help is hard to find and often delayed. Brady shares her own journey so candidly. It‘s hard, intense, but good.
