When I started looking into the history of these books and went onto the Internet to search for the names I found written inside them, the search results kept indicating Auschwitz. Every time the trail led to Auschwitz. We can‘t give people their lives back, but maybe we can give them something else. A book, and maybe a memory.

TheBookHippie I read this book when it came out and even messaged back and forth with the author!!!! Just makes me sick. Here we are again. 6d

A well written picture book based on WW2. I say roughly suitable for 7 to 9 year olds and though the topic is heavy it isn‘t too explicit about what happened during the holocaust.

A children‘s book, yes. But the first I came across when I was searching Libby for Denmark.

I‘m all out of library books till I go back…..so thought I‘d work on my reading around the world on going challenge.

I read this book after I read Newshawks in Berlin. Hitlerland is, of course, Nazi Germany. This book shows us a picture of the rise of Adolph Hitler as seen through the eyes of various Americans living and working in Berlin. Some thought Hitler wasn‘t dangerous and his movement wouldn‘t last, especially after he was arrested and sent to prison. Quite an informative book if history is your interest. Five stars

We meet Virginia, an American in Paris and married to a French man.

We meet Violette, a British and French citizen who marries a French man.

Both are strong women based on real people and who want to do more for the war effort than staying home. They both want to help their country fight the Nazis.
