Rain of Gold | Victor Villaseñor

While perusing my shelves in search of #MexicanOrMexicanAmericanAuthors, I realized that over half of these are from a Chicano lit class I took in college. I'm thankful for that intro... but need to take it further! Rain of Gold is on my #TBR... while I was searching for it, I decided I need to read it this year, along with about 5 more I came across and want to read right now. If only I had time to indulge all my TBR impulses! #maybookflowers

Day5 #MayBookShowers #mexicanormexicanamericanauthors I have a small list of Mexican & Mexican-American authors that I've read or in my #TBR stack but I had to go with my 1st & favorite, Laura Equivel. Like Water for Chocolate is IMO her best & my fave of her books but I also loved Between Two Fires-full of her memories, essays & recipes. I enjoyed her other books on the bottom left, but still need to read the 2 bottom right books from my #TBR.📚

2666: A Novel | Roberto Bolaño, Natasha Wimmer

Sad to say, I don't have any #mexicanormexicanamericanauthors on my shelves, but I am enjoying building my TBR from everyone else's posts!

The closest I've got is Bolano, who was Chilean but spent much of his youth in Mexico, which was the setting for most of 2666. A challenging, at times compelling (slow at others), but ultimately satisfying read.
