The Serpent Queen series. Minnie Driver played Elizabeth 1. She did an excellent job. She was the best character.

After my trip to Italy I wanted to learn more about this family.
Serendipity lead me to this novel at the Library, it‘s been around for a while. I do enjoy a good historical mystery, and this generally fits the bill, although the historical premise is a bit shaky. Wilson posits a fictional reason for the disappearance of Hans Holbein in 1543 that involves the (factual) Prebendaries Plot to bring down Thomas Cranmer and restore Catholic rule. I enjoyed “meeting” his protagonist, London goldsmith Thomas Treviot.

Finished Andrew Marvell & Wanderers
Started The Medici Murders (on audio, narrated by Richard Armitage 😍), A Passage to India & The Paper Chase.
When her husband Henry II died during a joust, Catherine de Medici replaced her previous personal device (a rainbow) with a broken lance and a Latin inscription that means “From this come my tears and my pain,“ and I respect her grief but that just feels a little extra.
4/23 This book, although well researched, is over written. The author has obviously done a lot of research and wants to make sure we know all about it. Usually I enjoy being drawn in by details but I found my mind wondering during this one. It just couldn‘t keep my interest and by the end I didn‘t really care about the answers to the mystery. 2.5⭐️
Early morning listening whilst I hide in bed and pretend I‘m not awake. (Shhh don‘t tell my hubby, he‘s up with the kids 😉)
