6. I mentioned Bess in an earlier question, but let's talk characters. We see some more of Carson Drew, at least in the 1969 edition, and the girls really get to know Miss Carter. Any thoughts on the characters in this one? #NancyDrewBR

Bookwormjillk Ned constantly telling Nancy to stop solving mysteries got on my nerves. And Mr Skank made me giggle. 5d
JenlovesJT47 I like Mr. Drew but it was a bit too convenient that he, as a lawyer, knows how to defuse a bomb. Just one of those people who is good at everything like Nancy I guess lol. 4d
lauraisntwilder @Bookwormjillk Yes! Mr. Skank! So great. 4d

Ruthiella I liked the little side romance between Miss Carter and Mr. Simpson. ❤️ 4d
DGRachel @Ruthiella I thought the romance was sweet, too. Lost loves, reunited. 🥰 I loved that it felt like we got a little bit of all the side characters, even Tommy. 4d
dabbe Besides the weight comments against poor Bess, I couldn't believe the number of times the word “pudgy“ was used to describe Guy Woonton in just four pages:
“pudgy, double-chinned man“ (26)
“If that pudgy man ...“ (nice, Nancy!) (28)
“to find out who this pudgy individual is ...“ (you, too, Mr. Drew!) (28)
“pudgy, double-chinned“ (30)

Time to learn a new synonym, ghost-writer, and/or not be so #meangirl about it!

AnneCecilie I liked meeting Tommy again. Having Hannah Gruen more in the story, compared to some of the later ones. 4d
DebinHawaii @dabbe That was a whole lot of pudgy! 😬 4d
dabbe @DebinHawaii IKR? And I just pudgied it even more. 😅 4d
kwmg40 @dabbe I too noticed the overuse of “pudgy“. Did everyone in that time period get judged by their body shape? 2d
kwmg40 Carson Drew's defusing the bomb makes me want to know more about his background story! 2d
dabbe @kwmg40 Excellent point! It's definitely not a positive connotation either, and both Nancy and Mr. Drew used it! 😱 1d
