I must admit that I googled "Genre-Busting" meaning. If google is right then Kindred is Genre-busting book. Time travel (Sci-Fi) and historical novel. Very powerful novel about black people, racism, and slavery. It was so great and I still thinking about it. Dana was amazing character.
There are so many covers online but I choose these. Mine is the white one.

KINDRED is a very interesting and also horrifying science-fiction book, in which the main character somehow travels through a slave plantation in 1815, where she meets her ancestors. It‘s is not very long (320 pages) and I liked how three-dimensional all the characters were.

Kindred: A Graphic Novel Adaptation | Octavia E. Butler

This graphic novel was amazing. I've never read any of Octavia Butler's books yet, but after finishing this adaptation I can't wait to read Kindred. This was discomforting and poignant. Truly unique storyline and it brings the effects of slavery to the forefront. The graphics were very well done and I was hooked from beginning to end. I'll probably be thinking about this one for quite some time.
