My library's book bingo card has a square with the prompt "recommended by a young person," so I asked 4 of my nieces (ages 8, 9, 12, & 12) to each tell me what one book I should read. Here are their picks, if you're looking for some great kid picks! I think I'm going to read them all, so we can talk about them together. #kidreads

knittedgnome My nieces all are really liking those babysitter graphic novels! I usually buy one and give it to a random kid and they pass it around! 6y
Jenny I‘m excited to try the Babysitter Club GNs. Childhood memories and all that. 6y
RachLovesTV @knittedgnome @jenny I was OBSESSED with BSC when I was a kid - I still have all of my original paperbacks somewhere! I'm looking forward to trying the graphic novels, though part of me is like, "I already read these!" ? 6y

LibrarianRyan No kids but I work with them. Any thing Aaron Reynolds. beasts of Olympus is a fun new early chapter series if your sick of MTH. Bill Nye has a great new series (only 2 book so far) that mixes science and adventure. Plus Obert Sky has an awesome new books. And his older series are great as well. There were not as popular as Riordan and Rowling but that's because they come from a smaller press. 7y
OrangeMooseReads Man Cub is almost 10, 4th grade, loves Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Captain Underpants, Who/What is/Was.. ? Series, Grimm Sisters (I think that‘s the name) 7y
LibrarianRyan Plus the 13- story tree house series is growing in books and popularity. Plus any thing Chris Galbrison. (That's spelt wrong). 7y
jessijames Love hearing these new ideas! I want to order some new books for my school library. I knew my Litsy friends would come up with some great ones to research. (edited) 7y
LibrarianRyan Plus, how could I forget NERDS by Buckley. So much fun. 7y
raeintheworld My first-grade son has recently loved Roller Girl, the Lunch Lady series (10 graphic novels), The Last Kids on Earth series, Something Wickedly Weird series, and Scardey Squirrel books. (Capt Underpants and Dog Man too, but who doesn‘t?) 7y
jessijames @LibrarianRyan I will have to look this up! It‘s new to me! This is my second year in the library after 13 years in the classroom. 7y
Bourriquet76 My 12 year old writes a book blog on and off as part of his homeschool assignments. We started in 2nd grade. Http://ABoysBooks.com 7y
LibrarianRyan @Bourriquet76 that is very cool 7y
PathfinderNicole I have a kindergartner and we adore all of Mo Willems books, especially the Pigeon. Also The Magic Treehouse series, Paddington, the How Do Dinosaurs series (honestly anything with dinosaurs) 7y
Bourriquet76 @LibrarianRyan Thanks! He has about five in the queue I need to format and schedule for him. 7y
Lova My first grader is 10 books in on the Captain Underpants series. And my preK sweetie is “reading” is Green Eggs and Ham lately. But she loves to make her own “Con‘t let the pigeon...” books on the iPad app and listen to them being read to her. 7y

I walked into a book store and only walked out with books for my kid 😂He has already read the first one and really enjoyed it. A bunch of kids at his school are reading these books so they are hard to get at the library! #raisingreaders #kidreads

Tamra I often have no restraint when buying books for kids, and only a little for me. 😬 7y
TheNextBook @Tamra I was actually really proud of myself for only buying books for him because there were books there I coukd have bought but I knew I wasnt going to get to them anytime soon so I passed! He has been reading through all of his books so had to get him more. I need him to donate a few of his though because some he has definitely outgrown 7y
Tamra @TheNextBook I‘m impressed? How old is he? 7y
