#TLT @dabbe

This was fun!! The bottom three are villains that frightened the life out of me as a child!! I‘m sure they meant the singular man in Bambi, I‘m using it to mean mankind. Also, if you‘re playing a fascist/Nazi automatic villain!! Missing from the list are my two favorite villains, Moriarty from Sherlock and Loki. (if you get redemption arc, are you still a villain?)

Care to play?

lil1inblue Loki! 😍 😍 😍 8mo
dabbe I bet if AFI updated the list, it would include SHERLOCK's Moriarty. “Miss me?“ 😱 And excellent question. I'd have to say yes because Darth Vader got redemption, right? Though most of these on the list were evil all the way to the end. Thanks for playing and sharing! 🩶🧡🩶 8mo

Happy Hobbit Day everyone!

It's been a very busy day and only now, almost at midnight, l manage to post, but l didn't want to miss this!

I'm sorry l didn't post for the #HoobitWeek here as l intended. I did on Instagram, though.
You can read my posts here, if you want 😁

wisherwishinguponastar I dropped the ball. The second half of my week was not conducive to posting or reading, but I am glad that you made it through. I hope you had a lovely second breakfast at some point. 2y
JazzFeathers It was hard. It's being very busy, but l really wanted to do this. There have been years where l did aot of Tolkien activities. I want to go back to at least doing a part of it 😜 2y

I love how Thorin went from:

"You are not making a very splendid figure as King under the Mountain,'” said Gandalf.
"But things may change yet."

To:

Out leapt the King under the Mountain, and his companions followed him. … In the gloom the great dwarf gleamed like gold in a dying fire. … "To me! To me! Elves and Men! To me! O my kinsfolk!" he cried, and his voice shook like a horn in the valley.

#LotRChapterADay #FellowshipofTolkien

Daisey It is quite a transition, and all it took was finding a common enemy. 2y
JazzFeathers I love Thorin's character arc so much. He's such a complex character. But then, my fellow #FellowshipOfTolkien companions know my soft spot for Dwarves 😂 2y

Since my copy was missing I‘d been listening to our daily chapters on audio, but I kept missing stuff, and there‘s really no point in a reread if you‘re not gonna take the time to appreciate the details, so I ordered a new print edition which arrived yesterday. Feeling happy about our catch up week!

slategreyskies #covercrush I really want this copy now! 🥰 2y
IndoorDame @slategreyskies it‘s so cute! I love pocket sized books! This one has the original illustrations in black and white 2y
JazzFeathers Ooooh! That's my favourite edition 🤩 l got mine in Oxford, when l went to the Tolkien exhibit. 2y

Daisey Lovely edition! 2y
dabbe That's the exact copy I've been reading online; I think I'll have to get the hardcopy, too! 😍 2y
IndoorDame @dabbe We‘ll be book twins ❤️ it‘s possible the full size version with this cover has color versions of the illustration plates, but I just love the teeny one anyway 2y

I'm so behind in the #FellowshipOfTolkien reading of The Hobbit, as well as the other books I've been reading that I'm joining #20in4 with a goal of reading for 20 hours this weekend. I don't have to work tomorrow, so I should be able to pull it off.

Andrew65 Best of luck 😁 2y

LOTR is on the shelf right where I left it, but I‘m not sure what happened to my physical copy of The Hobbit so I grabbed this Hoopla audio copy to start off our readalong, and I have to say I‘m really enjoying having the songs actually sung to me. The epic poems are one thing I always had trouble with in the trilogy. #LotRChapterADay #FellowshipOfTolkien
@Daisey & @JazzFeathers

JazzFeathers Cool!!! I have never listened to any of Tolkien's books. But l will, one day. Probably Andy Serkis's read 😁 2y
AnnR Listening to the songs is one of the best parts of the audio versions. I must admit I sometimes glossed over the songs lyrics/poems in the written versions. 2y
CatLass007 I‘ve listened to The Hobbit, the first two books of the trilogy, and started the third. I think Rob Ingliss does a wonderful job with the narration. But he does even better with the songs. When I heard him sing, I felt the stories truly come alive. 2y
Daisey @IndoorDame @Ann_Reads @CatLass007 I have all of the Rob Inglis audio versions of The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings, but I definitely enjoy Tolkien more in print. I‘ll have to give some of the songs another listen though. I skimmed the songs and poetry a lot on my early reads. 2y

repost for @JazzFeathers:

You really don't need much: a book, an armchair, a lamp, and a sense of wonder and adventure. You certainly won't need your handkerchief and your gold buttons, though you may need your kettle.

The #FellowshipOfTolkien is about to start a new advent- sorry; readalong of Tolkien's major Middle-earth work, one chapter a day, like in the good old days #LotRChapterADay
