Happy #HobbitDay 😁
#TLT @dabbe
This was fun!! The bottom three are villains that frightened the life out of me as a child!! I‘m sure they meant the singular man in Bambi, I‘m using it to mean mankind. Also, if you‘re playing a fascist/Nazi automatic villain!! Missing from the list are my two favorite villains, Moriarty from Sherlock and Loki. (if you get redemption arc, are you still a villain?)
Care to play?
#SummerSouls Day 2: #mountains reminded me of a Poetry Friday feature Iphigene once shared on GatheringBooks with the ballad Far Over the Misty Mountain here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-8PY
“The only person thoroughly unhappy was Bilbo.”

I love how Thorin went from:
"You are not making a very splendid figure as King under the Mountain,'” said Gandalf.
"But things may change yet."
To:
Out leapt the King under the Mountain, and his companions followed him. … In the gloom the great dwarf gleamed like gold in a dying fire. … "To me! To me! Elves and Men! To me! O my kinsfolk!" he cried, and his voice shook like a horn in the valley.

Since my copy was missing I‘d been listening to our daily chapters on audio, but I kept missing stuff, and there‘s really no point in a reread if you‘re not gonna take the time to appreciate the details, so I ordered a new print edition which arrived yesterday. Feeling happy about our catch up week!

I'm so behind in the #FellowshipOfTolkien reading of The Hobbit, as well as the other books I've been reading that I'm joining #20in4 with a goal of reading for 20 hours this weekend. I don't have to work tomorrow, so I should be able to pull it off.
LOTR is on the shelf right where I left it, but I‘m not sure what happened to my physical copy of The Hobbit so I grabbed this Hoopla audio copy to start off our readalong, and I have to say I‘m really enjoying having the songs actually sung to me. The epic poems are one thing I always had trouble with in the trilogy. #LotRChapterADay #FellowshipOfTolkien

repost for @JazzFeathers:
You really don't need much: a book, an armchair, a lamp, and a sense of wonder and adventure. You certainly won't need your handkerchief and your gold buttons, though you may need your kettle.
The #FellowshipOfTolkien is about to start a new advent- sorry; readalong of Tolkien's major Middle-earth work, one chapter a day, like in the good old days #LotRChapterADay
