Book haul from the library sale. Can‘t wait to get started. #summerreading
Posting my first week points late, sorry!
One holiday read, four impulse reads including the silly, fun tagged romance, one post, and 3860 points for word search. The word search is a gold mine! Total points: 3927. #teamgamesleighers #wintergames2021 @StayCurious
Did I listen to this book in anticipation of the end of Draughtlander and because I needed some Scottish 🔥 in my life? Yes.
Does this book make up for its cheesy dumb cover with a solid histfic storyline, perfectly tolerably characters, and very sexy sexy-times? Again, yes.
Romance itch successfully scratched, though Tor MacLeod is (of course) no Jamie Fraser. 😉

Mad About Plaid! Gotta go for a Scottish romance.
Bk 3/8: more time travel, cursed objects, a vow made without thought, classic rom tropes. The Túath Dé from Bk 1 makes an appearance as a 2nd main influence. There‘s a bit more at stake here re:the vow but you already know how it‘ll pan out. The female main has strongest reasons to return to 21st century of all the others. Plot twist hits & that‘s when you think, would they really?
Mairin is the illegitimate daughter of the king & on the run. She ends up at the McCabe family's keep & thrust into marriage with eldest brother Ewan. Compared to her former potential mate, this alpha male is a catch, what with all his talk of possession, obedience & all that other misogyny. He's not a bad guy, but he has some growing to do. Mairin gets put into a lot of peril & this is one of the least romantic "maiden voyages" I can recall.
It wasn‘t terrible but I‘m finding that the historical fiction written by Maya Banks just doesn‘t do it for me. This is the second one I‘ve listened to that I‘ve found to be so-so. Maybe it‘s just me.
