Pickpick

This was definitely my favorite book I've read so far this month, and one of my favorites for the year. Even though Hattie is only 28, she's been widowed for 2 years and is struggling to run the Vermont inn that was her husband's dream, all while taking care of their young daughter. Meanwhile, 3 women (Erica, Claudia, and Anna) have been friends since college and always get together for a week every year. Now that they are all at or close to 40 ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) they're each experiencing that mid-life crisis of realizing you've done something for a couple decades and is that really what life is all about? Erica's the classic workaholic, Claudia's 10-yr relationship ended earlier that year, and Anna is about to become an empty-nester after her children being her driving focus for 18 years. When they come to stay at Hattie's inn, things all come into focus. This isn't a high-energy story, and ⬇ 1d
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) while there is a little bit of romance, this book is really just about these four women finding some new direction as they approach new seasons of life. It's done so well!! Sometimes I find Morgan's stories to feel a little thin because she always takes on multiple characters, but because there wasn't as much romance in this one, I felt like I got to spend a balanced time with all four of these characters and loved each of them! 1d

julieclair This sounds so good! Stacked! 1d
bookandbedandtea I loved this one too! And you've reminded me that I meant to read more of her books as this was my first one. 23h
TheAromaofBooks @julieclair @bookandbedandtea - I think you would both really like this one!! I love Sarah Morgan's Christmas books because while there is always a splash of romance, it's always way more about family relationships, especially mothers/daughters/sisters. And so far, any book I've read where there is a married couple having issues, they actually talk and work through them like adults instead of realizing the other person was “holding them back“ or⬇ 5h
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) whatever. I especially enjoyed The Christmas Sisters, The Christmas Escape, and A Wedding in December, but honestly every book I've read by her has been a 4* or better for me. I've only read two of her not-Christmas books, and particularly enjoyed Family for Beginners. 5h

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

Fun cosy romance best read in December

TheBookHippie How is it? It‘s on my daughter‘s wishlist… 2mo
mcctrish @TheBookHippie it‘s good, it doesn‘t have the formulaic sex scenes that a lot of current romances have ( I‘m not against the sex, I just hate the pattern) there was way less book talk then I thought. Overall it‘s a lovely, feel good, friendship based rom com 2mo
TheBookHippie @mcctrish in the cart it goes 😂 2mo

I am waiting for my last items to be delivered today, then off to the post I go! I‘ll expedite delivery of both packages for my #HHS and #MWS to be sure they both arrive well in advance of their Opening Day! Pic of my favorite person who I spent many hours waiting on while she was at home. Now that she‘s at university, I simply wait for her phone calls! Ah, Empty Nesting is both a blessing and a curse! Miss my baby but so happy to watch her bloom!

Read4life I know the feeling. So bittersweet. Love the pic. 2mo

Starts off as a gender-switched “Butterflies are Free,“ Harlequin Romance style. Of course there's a miracle cure for the heroine's blindness and then it becomes... Southern gothic or something? But in Canada. I really have no idea why I finished it.
