I genuinely hated the direction of the storyline after page 100, like you know what's killing these girls but the why or how it works is never answered. I wanted an explanation or answers. I deserved the answers, but I never got them.
Despite my annoyance at this I must confess the writing and characters left me completely enjoying the journey from start to finish

This was horrific in the best possible way! It is very dark - if you‘re someone who checks trigger warnings definitely do for this one - but it‘s another great example of a mix of the paranormal and a sort of time manipulation. It deals with grief and trauma and loss but somehow has a very satisfying ending. This is the 2nd or 3rd book I‘ve read from this author and I‘ve enjoyed them all! 🌟🌟🌟🌟💫

It is hard to convince anyone how empowering the book is as you relay one plot point after another, but it truly is. It had all the frustrations women feel and felt through the ages, wrapped up in a harrowing tale that made me grip the reading chair with worry, gasp in well expressed grief and wallop when battles are hard won.

March #Bookspin and #Doublespin! ☘️🏀🌼🇮🇪⛹️‍♂️🌷⚾️

Between St. Patty‘s Day, Spring Break, March Madness, Spring Training, and Spring Break (I REALLY love Spring Break), March might be my favorite month (aside from October, of course).

I didn‘t finish a single book in February, but hopefully a whole week off will help me get back on track.

TheAromaofBooks Yay!!! Enjoy!! 3mo

“Centered around the Ormen, a deserted shipwreck off the coast of Iceland, the novel follows an explorer who uncovers the ship‘s dark past riddled with lies, cruelty and murder.

A chilling tale perfect for this winter weather.”

This book was much darker than I anticipated. That being said, I couldn't tear myself away, I wanted to know what happened. I listened to this one on audio and loved the narration. The narrator has a thick Scottish accent and it really sets the tone. Trigger warnings for non-consensual sex.

#NewYearNewBooks

I read this YA #Twins book back in 2010 according to Goodreads. I have always liked the cover & the optical illusion/ambiguous image on it. 🩷

I admit that I'm probably the ideal reader for this book; I was absolutely willing to fall under its spell. It's the time of excess, moral lassitude, lasciviousness, masks, & debauchery in 18th-century Venice, & also the time of art, beauty, music, & Vivaldi. Set at the Ospedale della Pietà, it has queer undertones, & sets the friendship of two young girls against the patriarchal norms of Venetian society as well as the deep & dark mysteries

batsy of a city married to the sea. The writing is sumptuous, & you can feel the author is absolutely enchanted by historical Venice & all of its glittery promises & tawdry betrayals. I felt transported while reading it; it's dense & poetic, with an undercurrent of dread throughout. This is no happily-ever-after fairytale. I now want to read everything about Venice during this era. And it was fascinating to learn about the Pietà & its female musicians. 5mo

Reggie You had me at debauchery. lol, great review! 5mo
batsy @Reggie Haha! Thanks Reggie, though I'm sorry to let you down in the sense that the debauchery is more implied than written about. But still a lovely book 😁 5mo
Reggie Sometimes implied is better. 5mo
batsy @Reggie For sure. Especially because the writing is beautiful. And it will also break your heart. 5mo

I pulled this off my shelf at random to read. Why? To make room for my Christmas book gifts. 😆😆 I‘m enjoying it, though.
