#MiddleGradeMarchThroughTime

This beings in 1846 when Mexico loses the war against the United States. What is now considered central California, a ranching family faces the intrusion of Americans squatting on and chipping away at their land in the hunt for gold. This is a very short book and nothing really happens until the last 50 pages so it was slow going and I wish their was more historical content than just daily life on a ranch.

megnews That‘s really to bad. So much potential on the subject since it‘s rarely covered. 3y

Pickpick

Landry and Nickolai, independent recovery specialists, were challenged to locate and return a valuable treasure map. There was a murder mystery and a cross-country treasure hunt. Christianity was part of the ongoing storyline as characters experienced individual faith journeys. Native Americans, along with their unique customs and culture, played a big part in this book. Sacred rituals and beliefs were explored, explained and well integrated.
