I went into this book relatively blind. I picked it up based off the rave reviews it was getting since it had been released. Based off the cover you'd think it's a carnival book, but what I didn't expect was ya romance meets supernatural carnival. I would have liked for more about the carnival and the acts and everyone's powers, it was still quite good. I enjoyed the characters and the plot and storytelling was fantastic.

This was about the carnivale rolling into town and, as usual, blamed for the strange happenings and kept apart from the mainstream. However the twist comes when you start to wonder which party is putting the strange into stranger! Is it the townies with their comfortable lives covering dark secrets or is it the carnies who have bought something unfamiliar with them?

After feeling indifferent for the first thirty percent of this book, due in part to tropey adolescent interactions, some scary shit finally surfaces and suddenly I've found my interest again! There may be some hope yet!
