#FierceFeb #FreeYourMind Creativity is all about freeing your mind. Here are some books from my creativity shelves--some are more writing based, others are more general creativity. The tagged book & the other two in the middle column are still in my #TBR stack. 📚 Thanks for a fun month of great musical prompts @Cinfhen and @batsy !! 💜

batsy Nice! Love how you interpreted this 👏🏽 Thank you for your wonderful #FierceFeb posts 💜 7y

Galatea 2.2: A Novel | Richard Powers
post image

Powers chose an excellent Emily Dickinson poem as the epigraph for the tagged book about professors who attempt to build an AI (using computer science from the 1990s 😉). The technology might be dated but the themes are as relevant as ever. This novel (and the show Black Mirror) might turn #freeyourmind into a protest chant on behalf of AI rights 🤖
Congrats to @batsy @Cinfhen on a superb month of hosting #FierceFeb - it was great fun! 😺👌🎶

batsy That poem 💙 And of course, now I have to read this book. Thanks so much for joining in this month, loved seeing your books! 7y
batsy I've seen this in a used bookstore and was wondering if I should get it. Have you read it? 7y
Billypar @batsy I haven't read Orfeo yet, but I've heard good things. My next Powers will either be that one or Three Farmers on Their Way to a Dance based on @Leftcoastzen 's recommendation. The Echo Maker is probably my personal favorite. 7y

batsy Wonderful, thanks! 😊 *scribbles it all down on a list* 7y
Leftcoastzen I‘m always rooting for 3 farmers ,sounds like I need to add this one to the stack. 7y
Liz_M The Echo Makers is wonderful! This book went a little over my head but I loved the ideas. Orfeo is next on my list -- I want to read a while bunch of stories based on the myth. 7y
Billypar @Liz_M That's a cool idea- I'm not great at coordinating what I read around themes, but it would be interesting to look at a mythological story like Orpheus from a lot of different angles. 7y

I definitely think books are the best way to #FreeYourMind but art is a close second! Salvador Dalí is my absolute favourite artist - I think he was a total genius ⭐️ #FierceFeb

A 15-year-old girl begins a correspondence with a middle-aged philosophy professor, and thus is introduced to a host of philosophical history/concepts. I bought this book when I was 19, which was quite a while ago, and have yet to read it...Now that I'm thinking about it, this might be my oldest physical, owned TBR book 😮

I've really enjoyed this photo challenge! Thanks @batsy and @Cinfhen for being such great hosts! 😃

#freeyourmind #fiercefeb

Centique I read this years ago and have it on my shelf still for a reread. Thanks for reminding me! 7y
readordierachel @Centique Happy to help ☺. Did you enjoy it? 7y
Centique @ReadOrDieRachel I think so if I remember rightly! It was a quiet little book that introduced me to a lot of new ideas. 7y
batsy Great choice! I read it when I was in my teens and that inspired me to take my first philosophy class in college 🤓 Hope you enjoy it! I've loved your posts this month, thank you and glad you had fun 😊 7y

My favorite of all the Jane Austen movie #weddings. ❤️ I'm sure they served #🍷. And even more importantly, Marianne, you were able to #freeyourmind of that cad Willoughby. 😄 #thisremindsmeof #fiercefeb #150PnPCoverParty

rockpools Once upon a time, many years ago, I was a teensy bit unemployed. One Tuesday, I headed off down the job centre to sign on as normal, and there was this queue of people going out the door and right round the block. Which I quietly ignored (as you do), and walked on in. As the guy was processing my paperwork, he said 'You didn't fancy being an extra then?' It was S&S. Me then: 😰😱🏃🏻‍♀️Me now: 😍 🙁#regrets 7y
LeahBergen @RachelO That would‘ve been AMAZING. 😮 7y
