This is a good children‘s book. I wasn‘t thrilled with some of the “crap” Joanna piled onto Maggie. Joanna was nice and was dealing with her own issues, but I was not impressed that she dragged Maggie into some of those things, at only 13 years old. The nature descriptions were very nice.

Finished this audiobook on my metropark walk today. I always like Walter Dran Myers. His writing is so relevant to youth, not shying away from tough topics. . This one had a bit of a mystery to it too.

I really enjoyed Kemmerer‘s Beauty and the Beast retelling, so when looking for a #RobinHood retelling, when this title popped up, I was intrigued! Though this is quite a loose retelling-& all set against the backdrop of a Maryland suburban high school. A school project thrusts the two narrators- Rob & Meagan- together where they come to confide in each other as they deal with the fallout from their own reputations & family drama. A quick listen!

Daphne's Book | Mary Downing Hahn
Pickpick

Published in 1983, Daphne's Book changed the way I thought about the world. I learned so much about empathy, friendship, standing up for others, knowing which secrets are okay to keep, and appreciating different experiences. This book tells the story of Daphne and Jessica, two unlikely friends who were paired together for an English class project. It's one of the few chapter books that I read multiple times as a child. I highly recommend it.

SaraLHartman Awards for this book include...
1983 American Library Association (ALA) Reviewer's Choice
1983 Library of Congress Children's Books
1983 School Library Journal Best Books
1984 Child Study Association of America Children's Books of the Year
1984 National Council of Teachers of English Teachers' Choice citations
1986 William Allen White Children's Choice Award

This book was good but not as powerful as speak. I liked the reversed roles, but I felt like there is a lot deeper the author could have gone. 3/5

Thanks for the tag @wanderinglynn
@MoonWitch94 #thoughtfulthursday
📖 I just started the tagged book. Also Mexican Gothic is my audiobook I'm currently listening to.
🍁I just found out I got a promotion and 75 cents/hour raise!
📚 It drives me insane when the characters are apparently too dumb to see the obvious. Ugh
Wanna play??? @DarkMina @Librarybelle
