#Bookreport

📚Currently reading:

🎧Lud in the Mist
🎧Rise of the King

Progress: I had minimal reading done in the past two weeks due to siding replacements and the construction of an overhanging roof to this house. I'm afraid the following week will be the same 😭

📚Currently reading:

🎧Lud in the Mist
🎧Rise of the King

Progress:
I finished all of my planned reading for December and my Goodreads challenge as a result. Got through a few hours of ROTK which was nice, rough week for Lud but I managed to get through a chapter on Friday. Monday is busy as always but I will pick it back up on Tuesday. I will focus on those for the rest of the year.

Honestly? It‘s pretty accurate.

If you‘re on the Fable app you can create a shelfie of 8 or fewer of your favorite reads from the year and they‘ll create a fun little graphic. “Chaotic optimist” is about right.

ChaoticMissAdventures I loved In Memoriam. It is going to be one of my top books of the year too! 3w
monalyisha Not that I know *much* about Moo Deng but that little figurine seems right in keeping with the “Chaotic Optimist” vibe! 3w

Pickpick

I found the cutest board book for my grandbaby today. The artwork is incredible. And maybe I am trying to indoctrinate her a little. 😏

DogMomIrene Not sure where I found it, but there‘s a picture book called The Literary RPG, which is an alphabet book that‘s super cute. I sent it to my nieces and nephews, so no photos to share😔 1mo
bookishbitch @DogMomIrene oh thanks! I'll look for that one too! 1mo

Progress:
Glad I got back to the Drizzt novels, maybe I can finally catch up by next year. Been making slow but steady progress with Lud in the Mist. I am really loving it. I might pick another short audiobook between those two, but we shall see.

I was finally in the mood to start these again. I think at this point I've made peace with the fact that I only really read these for the B plot with the dark elves, and to see what my favorite assassin is up to and his character development through the series. if it were not for those things I would not bother with this series at all. When Salvator wants to be good, he is SO good, but most of these books feel like mediocre shlock.

Doppoetry I'm beginning to think that Salvatore does not keep any notes because MC is going back and forth between subjects that I thought he already went through “This guy is my friend“ in one book “this guy is my Enemy“ in a different book “this guy is okay, actually but I still hate him but I like him but I hate him“ on a loop. It drives me crazy every time.

Doppoetry MC's asides between chapters are also hypocritical at best while trying to be deep but failing. The writing is so juvenile and pretentious.

Did my group save Elturel? No. They joined Zariel, allowed her to destroy Elturel and Baldur‘s Gate and set up a hellhound puppy training school in Avernus

D&D truly changed the world of strategy and RPG games. Unfortunately, the tale behind its creation was not as exciting as it had been billed to me. I felt this book was a textbook-like retelling of facts to include annual sales numbers. The game‘s very slow build from mocked fantasy game to cultural icon is interesting. Overall though I just felt like something was missing…like any type of connection to the creators.

JoeMo There seems to be a market out there for this story , as I noted at least three recently published books about the creation of D&D. Maybe this is the kind of book and subject that fans of the game are ravenous about…and folks like me who have never played it….not so much 🤷‍♂️ 4mo
