Domestic Pleasures is an absolute pleasure to read. Set in 1980‘s New York , with a wonderful cast of characters. It‘s about relationships and life, falling in and out of love , about bringing up teenagers in this NY setting.
I couldn‘t stop turning the pages. Such an enjoyable book. I‘m not a big romance reader , but I had tears for some of the touching moments in this story♥️♥️♥️

I‘m reading one of the Beth Gutcheon books I bought after reading Still Missing ( which I loved ) with #PersephoneClub. This one doesn‘t have that terrible dark theme, ( not yet , I don‘t think it will ) a softer story of people‘s lives , marriage, divorce, all the complications of love and loss. The writing I do remember ! She‘s a lovely graceful writer.

Tamra I won‘t soon forget Still Missing! 😳 2w
Cathythoughts @Tamra I won‘t either ! It‘s good to be reading her again , she‘s gifted. 2w
jlhammar Glad to hear you‘re enjoying this so far. I look forward to reading more of her work. 2w

Cathythoughts @Suet624 I‘m loving it. It‘s such a beautiful, ordinary read. I‘m not a romance reader. But this is more like Jane Austen ❤️ (edited) 2w

Got this as an easy poolside Spring Break read and it didn‘t disappoint! Some eye roll predictable points but also some unexpected additions which made this easy to read.

I love Jennifer Weiner but I felt that this one didn‘t call to me as her previous ones did…I was so wrong!

I loved this story. Abby and Sebastian will forever hold a place in my heart (and so will every character in this story!). This is a story about putting yourself out there and trusting yourself, that all those worst-case scenarios will most likely never come true. And that you are worthy, no matter what you look like.

2-27-24: My 4th book of 2024! I really didn‘t care for this. The writing felt juvenile for some reason. Charlie hates his life and is given a chance to change it in a very drastic way. Then along comes Aude who helps to make his life better than he could have imagined. They must jump over some hurdles to make it work but in the end they find the right balance. It was very predictable and a little boring because of the predictability.⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣4️⃣

Well that was a treat (in a weird, gloomy kind of way 😆). Thanks for putting the book in my hand @Rissreads . The inner lives of women of a certain age. Very relatable even though the book was set in a time and place where not getting married was considered sad and unfortunate. Some may say this is still the case 🤷🏻‍♀️. I loved Brookner‘s writing. She capture ideas, life‘s moments and “truths” so simply and effectively. I‘m keen to read more…

Rissreads Yay! I‘m still to read this. Lucky for you I somehow ended up with 2 copies! 3mo
LeahBergen I always seem to find Brookner weird and gloomy (but so enjoyable somehow). 😆 3mo

Not my usual read. But I needed something light and fluffy and my #bookspin this month delivered. Cute cozy tale from a tiny English village with a good community and books.
