LOVED this one! I live in Denver and it was so interesting to read about how it was during the time the novel is set. Compulsively readable, I could not put it down. Excellent writing, with nothing repetitive, the pacing and length of the novel are impeccable, there is not a single boring page or character. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"If I was going to kill myself," Plath continued, "I'd leave a note just to get a few last digs in. Insult the guy who took me to prom. Give my parents one last guilt trip. Criticize my ex-husband's penis. Make it count, you know? It's not like you'd have anything to lose."

I really feel this ???

I can't even remember why I purchased this - probably on a whim... but it turned out to be a riveting read. Did not expect to be so drawn into this crime story.

"I wait, browsing the stacks, thinking that the library is both the bookstore‘s enemy and our friend. They have everything here—why would anyone ever need to buy a book? On the other hand, there is nothing like the library to awaken a reader to the endless possibilities of the written word."

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!) Feel free to join in!

This was such a good read. An interesting premise and main character. A cop, who gives up his job reluctantly, but has a taste for old and valuable books. When a “book scout” gets murdered and word of a highly valuable book collection goes missing, Cliff Janeway steps up to the task of trying to find out who and why they wanted him dead. When 2 more bodies are found it becomes much more personal. I gave this 4 but definitely a 5 ⭐️ book.

mesquite @TiredLibrarian I‘ve got the first 2 on Kindle and on Audible Plus. I‘ll try to get to the others ASAP. I really did enjoy this one. George Guidall is one of my favorite narrators. 1y

Whipped feta & roasted curry carrots with chimichurri sauce at our local bookstore + snackery. Yes, that‘s a thing. And yes, I love our little town. 🧡

Reading this dark and gritty take on my hometown was interesting.
