Seriously, I feel like this entire book is an argument for abandoning the binary views we have of gender, sexuality, attraction, and life.

A fictionalization of a real story, this was okay. I didn't like the writing style the author chose to use, but I did get used to it.
If it's about Erzsebet Bathory, I've probably read it or am planning to 🖤
For Native American heritage month I read #WCCPBA Powwow Day by Traci Sorrell. We watched a couple of videos about Powwows because about 30% of my students indicated no knowledge of what a powwow is. They LOVED this https://youtu.be/eI2gnTZh0-I?feature=shared
Not a book but one of my favorite Spooky stories is that of La Llorona (the weeping woman). There are many versions of this story but they all center around the tale of a woman who drowned her children during a period of madness. When she realized what she'd done, she began to roam around crying for her children.

Apple cider is without a doubt my #FaveFallDrink and for anyone in, around, or visiting western New York, Schutt's is the best! Each batch uses only one variety of apples, giving a distinctive flavor. This week's Honey Crisp was great, but I can hardly wait until they do Northern Spy again later in the fall!

Nominated for the 2024 Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award. It will be fun to see how many students have attended a real Powwow. I wonder if any of them could name the equivalent Native American event locally here in the Pacific Northwest. The illustrations are beautiful and the story is relatable. 🇺🇲 The author and illustrator are Native American.
