pickEco's debut novel still resonates with me. Solving the mysterious deaths of monks, exploring labyrinthine libraries and facing off against the Spanish Inquisition , all great fodder for an excellent period murder mystery which explores deeper issues such as the power of silence as control, and laughter as subversion. Excellent.
